1990s Trek Graphics
 

Does anyone know if the graphics on the early 1990s Trek 700 and 800 series can be removed or if they are under some kind of clear coat? I have a 720 with damaged graphics but the paint underneath appears to be OK. The graphic appears to have been rubbed by a tie-down or rack and is through to the paint in a couple of spots. I ran my finger over it and there are no lifting edges in the damaged area and there is no edge that I can feel on the rest of the graphic. It doesn't really look like clear coat over the top but I'm not sure. I've removed lots of stickers and vinyl graphics using a 3M wheel for that purpose and PrepSol on a micofiber cloth, but these are different. Does anyone know how these graphics were applied and if they were clear coated.

I'd consider touching up the marred spots and calling it good.

They are under clear. I just checked mine.

A careful hand could sand through the clear coat and the decal. then one could re clear. Andy.
