5 speed freewheel recommendations
Some of my freewheel experience:
I've had 3 sunrace freewheels ( two 5 speed, one 6 speed).
6 speed 14-28 all silver: ran and looked great until 40km in when it sounded like it spun a bearing. Replaced with a shimano 6 speed 14-28. Ran great until I sold the bike.
5 speed 14-28 silver with black small cog: tight out of the box...very noticeable drag. Made a loud clicking noise once or twice each revolution that did not sound like the pawls.
5 speed 14-28 silver with black small dog: sounded like a spun bearing new out of the box. Also made the annoying loud intermittent click. Noticeable freewheel wobble.
DNP Epoch 5 speed 14-24
So far so good but I will miss the 28 tooth cog. Only tested on the stand thus far as it is raining.
Shimano 6 speed tourney freewheel 14-28
Didn't like the aesthetics of the black tallest cog but otherwise worked as advertised. Probably the best yet.
I see some other brands...falcon, sunlite and Ventura. They have varying reviews.
What is your favourite 28 big cog 5 speed freewheel? I'm not too keen on another sunrace. I live in mountainous terrain with a max RD capacity of 28t.

Favorite? Sachs Malliard Aris and sun tour New Winner Pro both Not made anymore .. and if you want no freewheel wobble You are being Un-Realistic.
Its a consumable part like he chain anyhow ..
How about rebuilding Wheel, with a 5 speed IGH instead? 1 Cog 1/8" thick in a 13 to 22t pitch

I've got an igh raleigh superbe already and I like my dérailleur bikes. I understand no freewheel wobble is unlikely but this was quite pronounced.
There are all sorts of used/nos freewheels that come up periodically but I guess I am asking about modern productions.

Did you oil your new freewheels at any point? Some of them are bone-dry from the factory. NOS ones often need it to soften the petrified grease.

+ 1 on both the sachs malliard aris and sun tour new winner pro. I have a stash of those left that will get me through the deluge I think.
