~1/4 nice lunch ride to the beach, 70 some degrees and the right amount of winds. Lots of people out on the bluffs and in the sand, and on their bikes

~1/5 trying to trail run again, and not over do it starting up again. Plan is to stay under 20mins for the first few weeks until my legs can get used to the pounding abuse again. Roughly 2 miles on dirt.

San Diego area is my favorite place in the Continental US. I hope to retire there or South Orange County one day. I’m very jealous, it is -2F outside right now where I live. Good luck with your health in the coming year. You seem to be doing it right with a good balance of fun and family.

~1/8 another lunch run...I went against my own rule and ran longer then I planned. (but walked some too) Oh well, it was nice before we get some rain here in socal.

~1/11 back to the beach after socal had a lil bit of rain. I took out my CX bike, haven't rode this since I did the San Fran to LA tour few months ago, still has the same gatoraid stains and dry drive train. I stopped by my LBS a mile away and got some rock n roll red lube. Rode SOOOOOO much better!!

Not to hijack (too much,) but I grow ever more convinced that the Stages overreports by as much as 20%-- I'm seeing numbers that track with what I got from my Stages. Your weighted averages for the past three rides you've posted are 30-50W higher than what I get from my P2M for similar distances/elevations-- and if my memory serves, I'm a bit bigger than you are. Take for instance this from last weekend:

41.66mi
Distance (?)

2:11:36
Moving Time

925ft
Elevation Gain

72
Suffer Score
196W
Weighted Avg Power

1,417kJ

Intensity

Avg Max
Speed 19.0mi/h 35.6mi/h

Cadence 83 109
Power 179W 868W
Calories 1,580
Temperature 79℉
Elapsed Time 2:15:57
Garmin Edge 520
Bike: Panda

Unless of course the selection of bits I put together on my R3 makes me the most aerodynamic, lowest rolling resistance thing on earth. Which I doubt.

But hey, as long as the output is consistent, the actual numbers don't matter*. Though I am still bummed that my routine ride averages are 170-190W, when I used to get 220-240W from Stages. Bigger numbers make me feel better.

*unless you're really counting calories

This is my first power meter so I don't have any reference to other devices. I wasn't looking for one directly but saw them on clearance for ultegra which is what I have on my new bike. My old bike was sram and since they own SRM, the only cheap options would be pedals or a hub. I'd lean to pedals though. I got the stages lefty for $360 + state fees. Darn cheap intro the power world. I'm only a decade late!!

6'1 and 206lbs. Weight stopped dropping so I'm just trying to get faster lol. I used to base my rides of average mph/ft climbed per hour. The PM is nice, I just got a new wahoo HRM to add into my bag of numbers. I haven't used one in couple years so would be interesting to see what it reads with the winter fitness levels

According to Stravistix (which I think uses the same formula TP does) that ride's NP was 210W.

SRAM owns quarq. SRM is a german company.

GET IT RIGHT, ROOKIE!

Pedals are definitely the best way to measure power if you have multiple bikes and/or multiple wheels. Not cheap though.

, the Garmin or Powertap pedals were on the list if I had a grand to spend on something silly. But I'm happy so far with the stages, still learning about power, and my limits when I ride. Its worse then Strava because I can see what I'm doing while pedaling vs later when I upload my data. Is it a bad thing I'm riding faster?

Anybody local wants to borrow my power tap rear wheel to check your PM, let me know and we can arrange something.

It took me a while to get over the fact that my kickr reports lower power than my quarq (which is currently non-functional) by about 10%. All it really means is more fake people fake-pass me in fake-riding-land.

Jeff - make sure you zero your power meter before every ride.

~1/24 dug out the MTB again, the rear tire is not holding air long at all. I had to cut hte ride short before I'd be forced to walk back. I'll add more Stans sealant and use soapy bubbles to find the cause. I don't want to run a tube in this tire.
