Video reviews and cycling vlog

Hello everyone! I was really happy to see that there's a section I can share my video posts. I'm going to use this space to do both a write-up and share the video review. I currently have about 7 videos to share but I'll keep them in separate posts to give them all a proper write-up.

Giro Aether

Linked above is going to be my YouTube video review. When I have 10 posts.

Text write-up,

Overall I've been really happy with this helmet. It's not too heavy, has a lot of vents, and most importantly no uncomfortable gaudy plastic MIPS fittings. All the technology is packed into layers of the helmet that give way in event of an impact. These can be tested without damaging the helmet by just pulling on one of the layers. This allows a return of the traditional helmet padding without interfering with overall safety.

One of my favorite parts of this helmet was the choice in colors. Not only are there many different and unique choices but the customer can also design a one of a kind lid through their online customization program. Truly this helmet features the lastest in both safety technology and customer personalization. But of course there's always room to improve.

Out on the road my helmet proved itself multiple times. A few crashes that would've been major without a helmet turned out to just be minor, and my Aether only showed very minor scratches that didn't even break fully though the paint. Vents allowed my head to stay nice and cool during hot days. The cranium and jawline adjustments are the same old Giro technology but still work quite well. And finally, the sunglasses grippers did a great job of keeping my shades in place when my in use. They still slip just a little when riding in the drops, but a slight nudge puts them back into position.

For score, I brought down the performance a little just because the cranium and jawline adjustments and straps are the same Giro has used for years. Price, it really doesn't feel like a $375 helmet. Especially when the Synthe is still a phenomenal helmet compared to newer designs, and those are easily found on a steep discount while the retail price is already lower than an Aether. There's no denying the safety benefits and I found those out firsthand so I scored full points on those. Overall it's a great helmet but I'd only suggest it to those capable of spending full value and not thinking twice about it. $375 is quite an investment for a helmet and the gains are quite minimal compared to less expensive options.

Overall score 8/10
Performance 9/10
Safety 10/10
Price 6/10
