1995 Haro Group 1 Si

When I was 10 I was lucky enough to be able to pick out a brand new '95 Group 1 Si from the LBS as a Christmas present from my parents. It was the 4130 with the red decals and red/black pads and silver wheels

I rode that bike anywhere and everywhere, and like any kid, I stripped off the pads, the chainguard, and the reflectors because you weren't cool if you had any of that stuff (though I never threw them out). I upgraded the grips, the tires, and the crappy cantilever brake with some sort of matching red Shimano V-brake that I remember cost $80 that I saw in the shiny glass case at the LBS which was quite a few mowed lawns at the time.

I grew up and grew out of it, but never got rid of it. Ended up keeping it at my sister's house in the garage rafters when I had an apartment through my 20s. I then decided to just let my sister keep it for her son, who is now 6. But I got greedy and decided I wanted it back, but only if her son hadn't used it yet or hadn't been promised it yet. Turns out he hadn't, and has some other bike anyway, so tonight I am going to go pick up my old love affair that I haven't laid eyes on in a decade. Pretty excited, but also nervous to see how pitted out various parts are and the overall condition. Hopefully the pads are still somewhere in the garage, but not holding my breath.

Will post pics later.

Fresh out of storage:

After these pics I filled the tires and gave it a wash, it still rides pretty good actually.

There is some light pitting/patina on the frame, which seems to come off with my fingernail. What can I used to gently get rid of it all? I thought maybe an emory cloth, but being that the frame is highly polished, I probably don't want ANYTHING abrasive? Any ideas for how to make the 4130 shine like new again?

Very cool, I wish I had one of my first bikes!

What I've done in the past to get rid of light rust spots is a little windex and a soft bristle brass brush(the kind with a wood handle).
