Squeaky Crank/ or pedals?
Hi, I'm a newbie to this website, wondering if you could help me out on my situation. I have a SE Hoodrich 2017 complete and have only had it for a couple of months. About a month after I bought the bike, a heard a squeaking noise (sounding kind of like a high-pitched duck) coming from my sprocket/crank/ or pedal. At first, WD-40 worked, I just sprayed it, let it soak in, and the noise disappeared. But now wd-40 doesn't work. Any suggestions on how to fix or solve this problem? If you need more info, ask.
Thanks. |
If it’s that new, it’s still under warranty. Take it back.
Or start replacing parts at random. Pedals are quite easy. Remember the left has a left hand thread. Bottom brackets generally require more specialized tools. If you’re not planning to make a habit out of working on bikes, better leave it to a shop. For the future, remember that WD-40 is a poor lube. Better than nothing, better than spit. But not by much. |
Some cranks have what are called pinch bolts to hold them on and they can randomly loosen up making your crank squeaky. Try giving them a tighten. If that doesn't work I'd take it to a bike shop as there are too many things that also make noise.
