Poverty P.O.W.??? to buy or not to buy

ok...so i want to spend less than $100.....is the Poverty P.O.W. a good buy or no...it looks really good..and is there any way to buy like a hop-up kit for it...just like better sealed bearings or something....lol.....it looks really good...the arms look like the Profile BMX ones.....but i am just wondering if it is reliable and a good buy....

CMcMahon 07-01-05 12:04 AM

Just save up fro Profiles or Odysseys. You won't regret it, especially with their warranties (compared to the lack of Poverty/Dan's warranty).

KinetikBiker 07-01-05 05:04 AM

its an ok buy, but if you have the money its worth it to go with some Profiles or Odysseys becuase of warranty...like Beerman said...
also look at Primo Cranks, there really nice, i dont know why everyone bashes them...

wasabiboys 07-01-05 05:55 AM

whatever like the others say. The poverty is fine if you aint going off buildings.

harris_co 07-01-05 08:39 AM

Yo. I got the POW and there great,,,if u pay with AMEX they doouble ur warrenty,,i had a problem and dans sent me out a sprocket at no charge,,,POW is one of the better cranks...try getting some used profiles..

Anything poverty sucks. profile or the 41 thermal.48 spline cranks are the best, except WTP. Primo sucks because that square spindle strips too easily.

CMcMahon 07-01-05 04:00 PM

The square spindle strips easily? Do you have any idea what the hell you're talking about? It's practically impossible to round out the spindle on Powerbites.

not if the pinch bolts are slightly loose

harris_co 07-01-05 09:10 PM

do u even know WTF ur talkin about...?? all the parts are made by the same person in the china factory

That's why you keep them tight, smart guy.

Profile cranks are made in the US, and Odyssey has a helluva lot better quality control than Dan's Competition (Poverty) does. And, for the record, Poverty parts are made in Taiwan, not China (although, technically, Taiwan is the Republic of China, as compared to the mainland being the People's Republic of China, but I highly doubt that you knew that anyway).

DCdense 88 07-01-05 09:54 PM

ok..well i am now thinking about Mosh....any thoughts on them>??

CMcMahon 07-01-05 10:00 PM

I wasn't even aware that Mosh even made cranks, but I do know that the reputation of their products isn't exactly the best.

harris_co 07-02-05 08:11 AM

i did know that..but the better stuff is made in Taiwan, lol,,,no saying much...mosh is good(made by Gaint) if ur on a budget get the POW if not get profiles!

If the bolts spontaneously get loose, the spindle strips

harris_co 07-02-05 10:36 AM

but thats why you keep them tight...no bolt should come loose on a crank unless its a POS

That's why it is a piece of ****.

FireTeamCharlie 07-02-05 01:36 PM

Poverty SUCKS ASS. Poverty is for bikers with little to no budget. I'd agree with beerman, Go for the Odyssey. I myself have DK Chop sticks and they're freakin' awesome, but go with odyssey.

That's a stupid argument. The side bolts on Profiles and Odyssey cranks comes a bit loose after a few months of riding, causing the infamous Profile wobble. Does that make them POSes, too?

DCdense 88 07-03-05 12:09 AM

i'm going to get the Poverty....it just seems that some people don't understand that money IS an issue....if i had the 150 bucks i WOULD get Profiles....DUH.....i said in the first sentence of this thread...(ok...so i want to spend less than $100.....)....yes i want the profiles...but no i don't want to spend more than 100....but thankyou Harris Co

KinetikBiker 07-03-05 06:14 AM

no MOSH
no POVERTy
go with PROFILE or PRIMO..............so many people ask and start stupid threads about this...THERE ARE ONLY LIKE 3 GOOD SETS OF CRANKS IN BMX, PROFILE, PRIMO and those really heavy/indestructible SOLID cranks...

As do I, but the fact of the matter is that tons of people get "Profile wobble".

DCdense 88 07-03-05 11:58 PM

get it through your thick heads....i don't want to spend more than one hundred dollars on a crank....
