I hate Huffy on principal, but there is no specific company that I say 'sucks'. There are definitely specific bikes that suck and they are found at Sears, Wal-Mart, Toys-R-Us, etc. Most bike shop bikes are decent (not all).

ANYONE who says 'MONGOOSE' is a moron. Mongoose Team series bikes are some of the best built on the market and easily exceed the top of the line completes from almost every other company. Do some reading, stop sounding like tools.

Freud would probably say that we hate Huffy because we got stock with them as young kids, mum and dad wouldn't even spring for a Schwinn. Or something like that.

Sorry - I do have a specific reason:

Huffy has been in the business for years and capitalizes on the stupidity of parents and the youth. They basically have never had a true high end bike and only started making 'better' bikes when the X-Games rolled around and they figured they could capitalize in their name with more expensive bikes. The quality of their bikes has remained almost bottom of the barrel and instead of doing R&D and engineering higher quality bikes, they basically wait to see what others do, then rip those ideas.

They are not a forward thinking company and are 100% into it for the money. If things tighten up in the BMX world, then Huffy will go back into department stores only and will cut loose bmx altogether to make a buck. There is nothing about Huffy that I consider good for the sport or progressive.

The Mongoose Team series redefines what a stock bike can be and is far superior to pretty much any stock complete bike I have ever seen before. Mongoose, while they do make some garbage, reaches the FULL spectrum of quality. From bad to incredible. I have a lot of respect for that level of forward thinking combined with new engineering and some of the latest and greatest product out there.

If I remember correctly, Huffy cut it's whole BMX team and "high end" product line a few years ago, when the recession hit.

Who cares...? As long as the shareholders are happy, the company is operating as most any company would with its marketing decisions. If the majority of the market think like you do, the sales figures will dictate which direction the company should head....

I don't think Huffy is necessarily poorly run, I just don't have any respect for them in the bmx world. They are nothing but glams who don't help or progress the sport.

I care that companies who are involved with the sport I love actually have a vested interest in making the sport better and more popluar for all. If a company is willing to ditch at a moments notice, and does nothing for it, then they are worthless.

Haro, GT, Mongoose, Standard, Hoffman, Eastern, T1, S&M, etc., etc., etc...

Those companies live and breathe BMX. They are in it for the money, and they are in it until the end. When GT had issues, they basically died. Then a few people who cared about BMX got together to work the GT brand name back up. There is some love of my sport right there and I respect that.

Huffy I have no respect for, never had, and never will. Even if they make some decent bikes some day, I still wouldn't recommend them or have respect for them. Not until they actually have something riding on it and are willing to stick things out.

besides the obvious, i don't like standard as much as say fit, or s&m, simply because there a little pricey. but i still like the company and products.

The very fact that they'd give Rick Thorne (King of All Tools) a signature frame is bad enough in my opinion, but the fact that their frames aren't exactly good is also a negative.

Yah they sell pretty cheap as well...which also hints to us that they don't exactly have the strongest frames and less duribility.
