Found this at metal recycling dump. Picked it up and was surprised at how light it was. Aluminum frame, mismatched pedals, no brakes seat post too small serial numbers filed off a real beauty lol.I don’t know BMXs but I do know a good bike is usually quite light. Can anyone identify this frame for me?

Gave it a sand with 100 grit to knock some of the left over paint off and work out some of the deeper scratches. I took a wire wheel to the welds best I could. Still some nooks and crannies that will take more time to get at. Expanded the collapsed seat post to fit proper sized post. I had one in the bin that will be perfect for the build.

Two hours of 220 grit and she’s starting to show what she could become. Still no idea what brand or model but some guess Haro or Mongoose

Busy weekend with no time to work on the bike but just a sneak dry fit to see what it’ll look like.

Seat post and stem have come a long way from where they were.

If possible, I like to use vintage parts for some of my restores.

Keep the updates coming.

If I remember correctly, aluminum frames were for racing.

Little dry fit to satisfy my "need to see progress" itch.

Should be done with the 220 grit after a couple more hours. Bring on 400

Mystery has been solved! Bike is a 2000 Free Agent Eluder. Took a while but found it today.

3speedslow 09-15-23 08:21 AM

Good sleuthing job! Have you had your first ride yet?

1500 grit wet sand and a go on my buffing wheel. Not a mirror yet I think my old wheel is to grimed up to get me there. Will get a new one and give it another go

My first reaction was that you should have taken advantage of that light weight to throw it even further into the scrap heap -- however, I'm seriously impressed with how clean you've got the thing -- Great skills (and patience)-- how many hours do you think you've got into the cleanup and polishing so far?

LMFAO couldn’t agree more but the worse it looks at the start the greater the transformation. I’m into it for around $100 plus 10 hours of sanding. Really happy with how it turned out. This is more of a learning curve for me so when I do come across something special I’ll be able to go it with a bit of knowledge that came from working on a less valuable piece.

Good on Ya for bringing this one back from the dead. It looks like a great restore and should be quite a nice ride. Smiles, MH

Well she’s all done and turned out great. Her new owner was ecstatic and loves the bike.

This is so cool to see! Thanks for reviving it and giving it a new life. I really like that sort of thing. I wish I could go and find my old 2002 Mongoose Menace in the scrap pile…unfortunately that one is probably long gone

That mid-school beauty should see a racetrack.

I started racing a few years ago on an FMF of similar vintage.

UUILL 04-11-24 01:37 AM

That is a sick rebuilt bike.
