Just got my new nyquist in yesterday and it was a pain in the @$$ to get into my car. I took it out for a spin this morning to work and noticed that the pedals seem to be sticking. sometimes they will snap or make a popping sound when i start to pedal what do you think it could be? This has never happened to me on a new bike but happens a lot on older bikes. I know how to fix everything on my bike but never learned to much about the pedal system. maybe i should of put this in the mechanics forum but ive got another question. what is the best crank system out there for little money? I dont have 150$ to be spending right now but I am going to start saving up so I can upgrade my bike. Also I ride dirt and lately its been raining so the track is muddy which makes my bike muddy, should i just wash it with the hose?

If you bought the bike from a shop (you should have) then they should be able to fix the pedal issue. It may be a bad pedal, or ruined bearings or something like that. Defects do happen and on a new bike, the shop should fix it or replace it for free since you got it there.

There are no good cheap cranks worth owning. The ones on the bike may last you a year or more, that gives you plenty of time to wait for a special at a online shop or to pick some up on eBay. Profiles on eBay at $100 are a far better value than $80.00 brand new cranks in almost all cases.

The Odyssey 41 thermal cranks are on sale for 100$ at Danscomp.

Never mind, I just looked and saw that the only Odyssey 41 thermals that are 100$ is the 170mm cranks.

What's wrong with 170mm cranks? It's not like he's 6'5".

Ooo, sorry about that. I thoguth that 170 was realy short or some thing. I am almsot 6', should I be using 170mm cranks arms then?

No, but there's not a terribly noticeable difference between 170s and 175s. That's my point.
