I do have to agree, my MTB cost $1400 alone; with upgrades worth over $200. It is expensive but for the money, its worth it. Lots of stuff you can't do on a BMX without hurting yourself.

And layoff of metalhead, if he's quitting he's quitting. No need to attack him for something that has been pissing him off for awhile, although you could try running a super high psi metalhead. Trust me, you might have the same problems as you have with a BMX, with the exeption that you can use strong DH tubes at high pressure.
Do what you want, but you need some extra $$$ lying around if you are MTBing (for spare/new parts).

dont get a haro, if you're getting a complete bike, look to volume, fit, or just get a custom bike, get all the parts seperate, so your not on a stock bike, when you get a complete they don't necessarily but top notch parts on it, so you can break those and buy their higher quality products, because it's all about money, so support the companies that aren't stupid, support the ones that are giving back to bike riding, cough cough endemic....five.....explosive bear.....cough

BMX bikes are cheap compared to mountain bikes. Our cruisers were about $500 each, but our tandem was something like $10K. That would buy a lot of BMX parts.

Oddly, I find that admission amusing. At least you're not annoying.

If you're really leaving the sport, I hope you enjoy what ever you do next. Perhaps one day you'll return. There will still be other riders to hook up with when you do.

Your rims will be so bent you can't even ride. Oh yeah, Im 6'2" and weigh 187lbs, I've never had a problem with popping tubes unlees i hit a nail or something.

Don't quote him. I can only read his ******** (that's right - I said it) comments if someone quotes them. Just go to his profile and put him in your ignore list.

What is so difficult about this concept that people insist on trying to compare them as if they're equals?

I mean, the general gist of this is if this dude's getting a mountain bike because he wants to do BMX stuff on it and thinks it'll be STRONGER, he's ********. It won't be (unless it's a freeride bike, which is gonna weigh a solid 15-20lbs more than your average BMX). If he wants to get a mountain bike to go ride mountain bike trails, that would be a smart move.

If you break a bmx, mountain biking won't be much good for you. I think you need to take more shock with your body. That, or you're cursed. I feel sorry for you I really do. I think some of the guys who posted are complete idiots and jerks. Metalhead, 40 flats is too much. 60-70 PSI is required. Absorbing impact with body is required. MTBs will break easily if you can break a bmx, especially if you want a steel frame. That's going to be over 1k...quite a bit over.

Anywho, good luck.

And guess what I am getting. A freeride mountain bike. I know that a mountain bike can't do stuff BMXs can. I am going to really mountain bike and do some light street riding on my freestyle bike.

And no I dont play guitar, I drum.

BMX's are toughter than mountain bikes, dumb dumb! More parts, more places to break and aluminum frames, aluminum cranks, aluminum everything, unlike BMX's with cromoly. A Freeride mountain bike will not last long if you break bmx's like that. Geez. LISTEN TO ME.

I might buy that if you said 225. Or if you lifted weights 6 hours a day.

Is there a reason you're trying to start an argument in a crusty old thread?

Seriously. I didnt say 325 of muscle. I'm a big guy, give me a break. 225 is the normal weight for a 6'2" person. Excuse me being a gay cowboy in this picture, it was all in fun, but you can see I'm not a twiggy fella'.

Ok, that was scary. I shall go wash my eyes now.

[edit] I'll point out that even though you're 4 inches taller than me, you seem to be a lot "Bigger". I suppose 5'10", 210lbs with more muscle looks a lot leaner.
