Anyone on a cruiser?
 

I am and just wanted to compare notes.

How do you think it compares to 20" for jumping. I very sure I would never go back, since I'm 6'1 and 200lbs. I also ride mountain and road. So getting on a 20" feels strange at least. But are you finding that you can't bunnyhop as high. Since it's more spinning weight, I wonder what it's doing to my jumping. Like, is it making moving the bike around in the air harder. Then again, the 20" bikes I see now days have a billion spokes, and are probably heavier than my cruiser. Just wonder what your thoughts are if you ride both, or have made the jump to the cruiser class.

On another note, my 10yo son is riding the 1 1/8 wide tire super light BMX Shwinn. I'm not sure how it's goin to hold up as he gets older, And am considering jumping him up to a regular bike. But since it's heavier, I'm undecided. I just don't want him trashing this bike so I can't sell it. Any thoughts? Especially if you have gone through this yourself?

I've got a Haro cruiser (sold my wife's Felt 2 weeks ago) and also ride mountain bikes. I find that because of the geometry, it's really hard to bunny hop the cruiser, compared to a mountain bike. I'm not a big fan of air time, and find the cruiser feels a bit squirrely when jumping, but that's also a function of the steep geometry.

As far as your kid's bike, tough call. Teach him to be smooth, and the light bike will last a while. Or buy him the heavier bike, and let him wrestle with it a bit. Depends on the kid, really.

Cruisers are for cruising, yes there are a few people out there that can rock them but im 6'1", 180lb and I ride a 20". Ive tried cruisers at the skate park and have a very hard time riding them there.

Cruisers are for racing. At least they are for the more "Senior" riders.
