helmet sizing and skate helmets
first regarding pro-tec
1) are the BMX and skateboarding helmets the same? 2) B2 helmets are S, M, L, XL while ace are Jr/M, M/L, L/XL. i believe i tried on an ace L/XL and it was too small. would a B2 XL be bigger? the shops around here are lacking and the staff is mostly the winter ski staff (not many bike only shops). finally, what other brands should i look into? if you can't tell, i have a large head(measured 23.5" roughly), so preferably a company that offers big sizes. |
Your writing in a BMX part of the forum so simple... YOU DONT NEED A HELMET.
|
try on a friends.....if it fits buy the same one.....or you can just rent one from your lsp and steal it like i did with my last 3.....
3 helments - 2 dollars each....not a bad deal |

whats the lesson?

If you're a jerk, people won't come back. Part 2 is that if you're a jerk, you may not be allowed to participate either.
Happy new year. Cheers. |

I'm sure you definitely did, but you don't have the whole story. We'll leave it at that.
|

|
Can't do that.

helmets may not be cool but i always wear mine...
anyways...Pro-tec seems to be the best company for bmx helmets that arent full face. like mude said, try on a freinds or go to a bike shop to buy one. also if your going to get a pro-tec try to get the one with all the soft foam not the hard foam and the 2 cm thick comfy stuff...becuase those fall off...and that would defeat the purpose of a helmet. good luck try www.albes.com they have the good helmets...(once you find you size of course) |
thanks for the suggestion. i really think i'll have to spend some more time just trying them on.
|
my mate has a pro-tech helmet. they are super comfy plus they look good. if my mum bought me one i'd wear it every time i was on my bike.
|
yeah i like the look of all of these (minus any stickers) better than other helmets.

The first one is the best. The hard foam sucks.
|
I would need the first one. My head is insanely huge so I have to get an XL TSG helmet, take out the pads and wear a hat under it to make it work out for me.
|
hey guys, i just got back from the store. they had one in XL with the pads like the first translucent white helmet (the classic bucky skate) and it was nice. my problem is, i don't know what (if any) certifications that helmet has. im pretty sure its not CPSC certified, which is a bummer. i emailed some chick at pro-tec who replied to my last email and i'll see what she says, but if its not certified, i don't know if it would be worth it. at least now i know an XL protec will most likely fit.
