high408 02-13-06 08:00 PM

5lbs?? do you mean the frame only? or fully built 5 lbs?? if you like specialized they make aluminum fatboys that are pretty chill.

Specializerider 02-13-06 09:03 PM

? what are fatboys? like accually the whole bike is like 9 lbs my friend has its sick

ettsn 02-13-06 09:05 PM

There are no 5lb BMX bikes. Period. Not one that's rideable at least.

I'm building a race bike right now just so I can get rid of it. It has really nice componants. It's still being built. It has Avid Ultimate V brakes, Thomson Seatpost FMF Handlebars and stem. The Frame is a Blue chromoly FMF frame. It's really strong and light go to www.FMFBMX.COM to look at it, its the only blue on under Frames, It also comes with FMF Pro 20" x 1.75 wheelset with tires, as far as fork and crank arms, im still building it, if you know of a fork or crank set you want on it, I can put it on for you. If your inteested. Send me a PM. Thanks. (PS. The bike will probably come out to weigh about 21-23 lbs. Thats light for a chromoly frame.

high408 02-17-06 04:17 AM

you have to have at least an aluminum frame if your getting into racing.

Specializerider 02-17-06 08:43 AM

ya im gonna join my friends team : )! were sponsored by pro-tec, haro, and a store kens bike and ski its the local store!

ettsn 02-17-06 09:46 AM

5kg is almost exactly 11lb, and I've never heard of a BMX bike that light either. Lightest one I ever saw was a factory race team special: a junior rocket in Ti with really narrow sewup tires and a Uni micro seat. Even that bike weighed 16lbs, and was unrideable by anyone over 5'/100lbs.

elfs are pretty light too! but i dont think they make aluminums.. .

Specializerider 02-17-06 07:35 PM

what are you talking bout the Redline i forget which model for 525 weighs 13 lbs but that is the smallest they make the one i would fit is like 14.5 lbs!

ettsn 02-17-06 07:45 PM

I said the lightest bike I've ever seen. I've not seen every bike in the world. ;)

One of the things we like here is proper grammar and spelling. Get with it, or get out.

And, directed at "fukyoubeyatch": Do I know you?

high408 02-18-06 01:04 AM

i apologize profusely for adding an extra 's.' i didn't think i would be so difficult to understand. also, i do not think we know each other. however i am not perfect. ha!

CMcMahon 02-18-06 02:36 AM

I was referring to Special Ed's comment. He apparently doesn't know jack about sentence structure.

Specializerider 02-18-06 02:28 PM

is special ed me?

FMFBMX 02-20-06 10:39 PM

Um...My bike is 16 lbs... it has a rider weight limit of 0.

I need a fork and crank arms. Find a fork you like and I will put it on it. Then I will post pics.

The lightest rideable BMX bikes is most likely Eric Hollys. When he was testing the Eastern Grim Reaper(Ti), and all the other crazy Eastern stuff he has. It was about 18 pounds without pegs, or brakes obviously, but he never rides brakes anyway, but he does ride 4 pegs. He just took them off to see how light it could be. He ended up putting on his pegs, and using the regular Eastern Grim Reaper becasue the bike was to light.

So there you have it, BMX bikes can be as lgith as you want them to be! Soon they will be able to be around that weight w/brakes. It should be pretty crazy.

FMFBMX 02-20-06 11:09 PM

Mine has brakes.
