Well, it's a private park (I'm pretty sure you have to pay to get in), and it specifically says no bikes allowed.

I didn't watch it again, but I saw it last year and I actually went to that park once, didn't ride it and I don't skate so I just watched for a minute. It's nice, I can see why they want to ride it.

Welcome to two years ago.

And, for the record, there's a BMX-specific park in Flagstaff now.

Doesn't really surprise me, BMX riders have always been as nuisances in the eyes of the public.

Props to th guys for standing up.

Personally I think it is a joke, the pigs need to do other things to help the commmunity like stop rapes, chase drugies, stop drunk driving... the list goes on.

i live in mesa(not in that area, its like the ghetto down there) and went to reed a few years back. I actually saw a guy get arrested because his 10 year old son was riding his bike there. i has heard of these kinda protests, but didnt realize they became so widespread.

On a side note: i live in northeast mesa(if ya know me) and that video was shot in the summer, when its 100 degrees at night and 118 degrees in the day

HAHAHA YES!!! The teams were 2-Hip and Manmade, it was sweet. The best part is when they hit the camera and that one guy(I forgot his name)took the flashlight and broke it on the ground. That's the best.

1st off, a 31 meg video? *whew* Dial up.

2nd. Here's my little thought for the day. I get alot of grief for this, from people that react to quickly and have never really thought about it before. Give youself some time to consider it before you just bust on me.

This is VERY long. Bear with me, please.

Download and watch this flash animation. It's a few minuts long, but sit thgough the whole thing. It's doens't deal with BMX, but with freedom. Which BMX'rs enjoy.
https://www.isil.org/resources/introduction.swf?lang=en

All you know, is what you've been told, or expeirienced personally. We are told from the earliest age to respect authority and obey the law. Sounds resonable right? God is the ultimate authority for those that believe in him, but either way, I'm going to leave that out of this. So that's not part of the debate here. What we deal with day to day is people. People that assume authority over you, and make laws to control you. Authority is held by force and fear. You are forced to obey under fear of penalty. You obey the law because if you don't, those that have assumed authority over you have the power to force you to, or punish you. Those that have the authority to wield this power are, just people, like you and me. Nothing else. But they place them selves on high and use the power to enforce as they see fit. You are to them nothing more than subjects that NEED to be controlled. Either for your own good, for the good of the commuinty, or for thier pleasure. Makes no difference what thier motives are. The result is the same. Those people, just like you and me, nothing more, nothing better, have control over our actions and lives. Even in a 'free' country like the US, freedom is an illusion. In every country you have a very small number of people that have control over everyone else. They pass laws that control peoples actions to keep the peace, to protect the people from each other and themselves. And the laws are enforced, by force and fear. You obey out of fear. Fear from what? Ok, think of this. All you have in life, is your time. Your time is spent doing the things you like, and the things you must. You must work to buy food, clothes, bikes etc. You use your times to ride, be with friends and so on. Those in authority can enforce the laws by ultimatly fining you 'time'. Now you have to spend more time at work to pay for the ticket you got, the bike you got confiscated, or time in jail. Or ultimaly kills you, and you lose all your time. Say a cop sees you riding where those that have assumed authorty over you says you should not ride. He comes after you, you run. Now, in order for you to protect your own freedom you have broken 2 laws. Riding 'there' and running from the cop. When he catches you, you will be punished. What harm has taken place? It's like a stop sign. It's 3 am, there's a 4 way stop. You can clearly see that no one is comming from any direction. Why do you stop? Because there may be a cop hiding near by. Have you made it any safer by stopping? No. But you fear the authorty and obey the law, because you have been conditioned to. Cops are people. Nothing more. Just like you and I. They wear a uniform, a badge, and a gun. They can kill you. They work for the leaders that have the autherity to give them the power to control your actions. You must not ever disobey and officer or be disohonest with one. Or you will be punished. Why can you disobey anyone else, but not the officer. What mikes him so special that you must do as you're told by the man with the badge and the gun. Fear. You are controlled by fear and conditioning. Here it is all wraped up. All authorty comes from the end of a barrel of a gun. Period. You do as you are told, out of fear. Maybe you can kick that cops butt. But more will show up, with more guns. You will do as you are told. Make no mistake about it. Freedom is an illusion. Say you have a gun, and the cop has a gun. Now it's even. But he has a badge, and more cops just like him will show up. Unless you can get more people to show up with guns than he can. You lose, and will obey. The cop can get more cops, on the local level. If that doesn't take care of it, they will get federal cops to show up, with bigger guns. Then tanks. And whatever it takes to make you obey. You will never win. You will obey and live in fear of being forced to.
It's a stange world we live in that this happens. The few control the many. And with modern technology, and the direction of the world, control is being easier to manage. Now the other side of the coin is. You need laws. You have to have a way to manage property rights. If you didn't, I can say I own your property and take it from you if my gun is bigger. There would be no law to stop me. Any kid bigger than you could take your bike, kick your butt and nothing would stop him. So him living in fear of obeying the law that says he can't do that makes you feel a bit safer. We all want to feel safer. Laws make us feel safe. They protect us from each other. Most of the time. We are all willing to give up some amount of freedom for security. This absolutely is where the heart of the debate takes place. How much freedom are you willing to give to those in authorty over you in trade for the illusion of security. Remember, you can never take back any freedom you have traded. And more freedoms can and will be taken. Being arrested for simply riding a bike is absurd. Add to that, someone who is tresspassing on thier bike, now it may be resonable. But only becuase the authorty was givin the power to make the arrest. And the world is a better and safer pace because that bike rider was forced to obey, or punished for not obeying. You may think you obey the law out of repect for it. Perhaps you do, but not likely. You don't slow down on the freeway when you see a cop because you respect him, you fear him, and his ticket.
Nothing is going to change. The control over us will only get more oppresive over time. We have have a level of risk we are willing to take. And will push our limits of lawlessnes to out our comfort level. Speeding a little for some. Riding a bike on private property for others. But we do so in fear. Have a nice day.
