DK six pack or DK Fury

hi i am looking at getting another bike and i was trying to choose one. i have three options to choose from

1) 2006 Mongoose Rogue
2) 2006 DK Six Pack
3) 2006 DK Fury

i will be mainly riding dirt with a little bit of parka and street. i want a bike that is fairly light with good brakes. i like the fury because of the V brakes but i want to be able to change the rims over to some with 14mm axles. if anyone knows of any other goods bikes that are fairly light and preferrably have V brakes please let me know.

The fury is for racing, and I don't really know much about the mongoose but the 6 pack is an awesome bike for the price. The 6 pack is definetly your best bet, and you can still get those U-brakes to pull as well as a v-brake if you are good at tuning your brakes.

Acctually I just checked out that mongoose bike and it seems to be a very good bike as well. It has a cassette hub which is an advantage over the 6 pack, but only the steerer tube and dropouts are cromo on the fork. The frame is 100% cromo just like the 6 pack and the parts package is about the same. So basically it comes down to if you want a cassette hub or a 100% cromo fork.

ummm just going off of what fuzzy said.

go with the one with the cassette. wether or not the forks cromo you'll probably bend it anyways and want to upgrade.

so it is pretty much between the mongoose and the sox pack what would you guys recommend. also is there any good bikes with v brakes that you can think of that would be good for me.

eightdip 05-30-06 04:50 AM

You dont want v-brakes on a bmx, they are too big and get in the way, they stop too quickly in my opinon and fall apart

Jono 05-30-06 04:55 AM

so what bike do you recommend for mainly dirt riding with some street and park. also what is the difference between the cassette hub on the mongoose to the other one on the six pack.

Jono 05-30-06 05:13 AM

There is also another bike that i am considering getting and that is the Redline Triple X. what do you's think about this one.

KinetikBiker 05-30-06 06:10 AM

Six-Pack is the better of the three.

bxbmx 05-30-06 08:24 AM

the 6 pack is 300 on danscomp. the dk cleveland is 330, but it has a gyro (sounds like you dont need one though). make sure you get the right size with respect to your height. where are you getting the bike from?

ROGUE:
Specifications Weight: 37 lbs. Color: Clay Frame: 100% Chrome-moly street/freestyle frame Fork: Chrome-moly fork blades and steerer Cranks: Three-piece tubular chrome-moly, 175mm Handlebar: Chrome-moly, four-piece kneesaver Brakes: Tektro U-brakes, front and rear Hubs: Mongoose 14mm alloy hubs w/chrome-moly axles, front and rear Tires: Maxxis Ringworm ramp tires Chainring: 44t Alloy 5mm Chain: KMC Z510 CP Pedals: Mongoose alloy F/S platform Rims: Alex MX22 48h black Seatpost: Straight Steel O/S micro Saddle: Freestyle Stitched w/bumper Other: SST Oryg rotor; four axle pegs; chain tensioners

That is a heavy bike form 4130. (my mirra 540 is 34) for that price, id stick with the dk (32 lbs)...although the chain tensioners might come in handy, but may not be worth the extra 5 lbs.

FuzzyRyder 05-30-06 08:28 AM

The six-pack and the rogue are pretty much evened out in my opinion. The cassette hub on the rogue will allow you to run a smaller gearing set up by just getting smaller cogs/drivers and switching your sprocket. It will be lighter, stronger, and out of the way on grinds and vert ramps. With the six-pack you can only go so small because it has a flip-flop hub and the smallest freewheel it can except is 13t. Now if you don't care about runing a super tiny gearing setup and you would rather have the strenght of a full cromo fork, then the six-pack is what you should go with. The choice is yours, either one will be good.

Thats what you get for sayin crap about everybody elses stuff, and for thinkin that you know everything.

FitRider 921 05-30-06 01:46 PM

The rogue has four pegs which could account for a bit of extra weight.

Jono 05-31-06 02:01 AM

So it looks like the six pack would be the one for me. how do the brakes hold up on it, becuase my mongoose sniper's brakes are absolute crap. i'm not relly worried about the hub because i will probably buckle the rims and get some new ones anyway.

Why do you want a Mongoose? Mongooses are all pieces of Sh*t. If your gonna be doing alot of dirt jumping get the fury. If you want a bike just good all around get the 6 pack.

FuzzyRyder 06-05-06 12:16 PM

No, The Mongoose he is looking at isn't a piece of sh*t. Just the ones they sell at walmart and other department stores are.
