Elementary...

I am looking to purchase a stem, and I have selected the Elementary stem because of its weight and cool design. Although looking at danscomp, it shows Elementary V2 stem. Anyone know anything about it? And has anyone had problems with their Elementary stem? Yes, I know a lot of people were driven away because they think it looks ugly, but I like the design.

I think the V2 fixes the problem that some people were having with ovalizing their bars because they overtightened it. They redesigned a part of it so that it doesn't do that.

It might fix other things too, I'm not sure.

Yes if you overtighen it, it will ovalize your bars.

Okay, so it would be best to buy the V2. And is that the only problem people have encounted with that stem?

Aside from people not reading the directions and installing it wrong, not really.

Okay, good- I desperately need a new stem, as mine can not stay in place and keeps slipping every time I try to do something.

Didnt you only just get a new fit bike?? I'd try fixing your existing one first.

FitRider 921 06-26-06 11:26 AM

Yes, my fit bike is about a month and a half old. The stem that came with it is not so good. I adjusted the stem properly, but it still slips like mad. Just pulling up for manuals and such moves the bars a large amount. I also just got a bit of money from my rich uncle and have enough for a new stem. My priority list of parts to buy, in order is: stem (mine slips), pedals (one S&M 101 pedal cracked so i am currently using a pair of my friend's wellgos and they suck), seat (my seat is messed up on the underside and comes off every so often and is a pain to get back one), bars (just because I want new ones).

Throw your bike off cliffs and 20ft vert ramps often?

FitRider 921 06-26-06 01:04 PM

Not yet.

I laughed while reading this, because the thought of people who put there shawdow chains on backwards ran into my head.

That is pretty true. Although now I am a bit disappointed because I no longer have enough money for my stem because I am starting football, and just spent $80 on new cleats. yikes.
