chains

Which chain do you think would be the strongest. I just completely snapped my chain in half and need a new one. I am leaning towards the drop buster chain as it is cheap, and has a good reputation... what do you guys think?

Strongest? Probably some worthless 3/16" chain.

Best? KMC 510 HX. AKA - The Dropbuster.

Yeah, that's what I thought, but I'm going to take my bike to my local shop and see if they can fix it first, although I'd rather just buy a new chain.

i wouldnt think anychain would stand for as long with grinding on it then one without doing this, its like rolling a taught rubberband over anything thats not smooth(sorry if this doesnt make as much sense to you as it does to me, its been nearing 29 hours of being awake)

It would have to be made out of something harder than metal... Diamond!!

Go see Jacob the jewler and get him to make you one... or try to snach 50 cents next time you see him!

Or do as someone put in another post and use cheap chains if breaking them is unavoidable, if you dont have money for a diamond chain then this would be slightly cheaper!

right now he just rides a Kink Fatboy, which is really a KMC 415H, if you buy it under the KINK name expect to pay more

I had the shadow chain, and what happened with me and everyone I talked to about it is, it would ride fine for a few months, then all the sudden it woudl start to break and the sideplates woudl bend apart. It sucks.

Edwin rode it over a year
Joe rich was said to ride this chain for almost a year

but still i think about a few months isn't too bad for a chain, even for $50 which i paid through the shop
i think in most shops you can get them for about $30-$40 bucks or pay $10 shipping and $25 for the chain itself

so if you think your chain is getting a little worn down replace it before it actually snaps, a friend of mine almost died when he smacked his head against the concrete because of the chain snapping and another got a concussion

Joe Simon is probly who you meant, if your talking about the Shadow chain.

Just get a regular chain like the KMC 510hx, im going to be getting another one, and ditching my Shadow soon hopefully.

I just found out the chain that came on my bike is a 510hx. I also found out it's too short to take out a link and still be able to put the wheel on. And, finally, I found out that solid cromoly is REALLY HARD to drill out.

So I gave up and put it back to the stock length, even though it stretched a little and the wheel has to go kind of far back.

This is what half links were intended for.

Buy one, or steal the extra of one of your freinds Shadows chain(if one of them has it)

Maybe I'll get one when I go into the shop for some new tires.

And chromoly(I always mess up the spelling, heh) has chromium and molybdenum in it, and I think other stuff too.
