Im sponsored by my parents.
I get free cloths, food, and a house!
Sometimes they hook me up with some parts too!

bmxr07 07-21-06 09:06 AM

me too

bmichaelx 07-21-06 12:35 PM

Well, the team i'm on(minnesotabmx) has sponsors....but i'm not sponsored individually.

Are team is sponsored by Red Bull, Five BMX Co, Sag Wagon bike & board, I think some clothing company...i'm not sure.

I'm hoping to get MY first real sponsor from a biek shop soon though....

The parents are the best though, I couldn't be riding without them.

Seriously.
Riding is about having fun and just ****ing riding, not having 88 sponsors.

Allthough being sponsored by either Fit, Solid, Odyssey or Profile would be nice.

bmichaelx 07-22-06 09:30 PM

It was just a question, he said nothing about riding not being about having fun and riding your bike.

I think you guys should just calm down a weeee bit.

wethepeople 07-22-06 09:35 PM

I've been offered a sponsorship for downhill, but I've rejected them.

MadMan2k 07-22-06 10:14 PM

I wouldn't say no to some free parts or clothes as long as I didn't have to go around entering a crapload of contests or something. I'd be far more likely to work for a company as a photographer than as a sponsored rider, though.

Anything about 100$ or so...or less, I get for free. Anything more than that I get for wholesale. I also get shirts with the shops name, of course.

I'm pretty sure I might have peed a litle when he asked me because I was so excited. haha

eightdip 08-02-06 10:30 AM

well even if u did pee, u could have got some new pants from the shop

Go work for a retailer that is into BMX or even just bicycles in general.

A lot of the bike shops and outdoor retailers around where I am will look to sponsor one of their employees before they look anywhere else. Most places I know of will make you earn your keep and proove that you are worth your salt, so if you are lazy avoid this route.

1. It is real easy to get the days/times off that you need for practices and races.
2. You will usually get your entry fee paid for at the very least.

Go work for any decent bike shop and a lot of them will let you order directly from Quality Bike Parts or whoever they are using as their distributor and get it will give you access to "wholesale" prices (actually QBP prices are distributors prices...but who's counting). Any bike shop that is only willing to give you a small percent off for working for them is wrong; I personally wouldn't give them the time of day.

I have found that having access to sales reps from a lot of companies has also helped out. Let them know what you are up to and what you are asking of them and they will usually come through for you. Don't expect a brand new bike but a lot of them will be more than happy to throw down on some parts you need. Just my personal experience though.

I had a friend trade a space on his jersey for either $200 in merchandice (of is choice) or money and came away pretty well off. He hit up vendors and local places alike.

I used to be sponsored by ODI and two shops, but that was when I raced. I only raced once this year and broke my collarbone... can't ride until probably at least Sept... so pursuing sponsors is out for a while.
