HARO...Over-rated?

I'm not saying I don't like Haro, great beginner bike but, do you think it's over-rated? Just like when your trying to make "the ultimate bike", you would most likely go through a cataloge and pick out the most expensive parts that aren't necissarly the best. To me, Haro's would be one of those. I don't know if it's just me or..well..my deep hatred of Haro's. Lets see what you guys think...

I like my all the Haro stuff that ive had thats actually lasted.(The frames and bars)
My backtrail frame is nice, the only reason im getting a new frame is because its bigger, lighter and i dont have to paint it myself...

I've never actually owned a Haro..Maybe my problem

My backtrail (x2) is ok not my favorite but I'll ride it, I'd rather sell it.

The backtrails are nice frames (the higher end full 4130 ones...) like the X3's and pros, when they still made them.

Other than looking a little unconventional with the wishbone thing, i like my Haro frame. Its held up, and its fairly light for how old it is...

You know, the Backtrails look similar to the FBM Angel Of Death's....

I just noticed that.

I think they are really expensive for what you get. The new fusion? ones are like 500 at my shop and they arent that great from what Ive seen.

Good bikes though. My brother rode and old Supra (the old old backtrail) and that was ten years ago and I'm riding some of those parts on my bike right now.

I think they are getting worse.
Now they are more expensive and your getting less stuff, unless you want to dish out like $7 or 8 hundred and get the 'pro' models that come with all the Premium stuff.

Dude I can't explain how much I agree with you.

mude 09-25-06 01:04 PM

how is it over rated. no one says they make amazing stuff. they make good solid stuff. nothing to shotty but nothing amazing. fairly priced. no one gives them any more credit then they deserve.

i dont know anything about cars. but i'd consider them like a honda civic or somthing. alot of people have them. there decnetly dependable and get the job done, but there no caddi or benz

When I was the age of most of you kidlets, Bob Haro was on of the racers that everyone wanted to be like. So a jillion years later, when I got into BMX again, I went with Haro. Not that Bob has anything to do with the company, but their better bikes are still a decent value. At the time, I could have bought any bike I wanted, but I think from the choices I had in Australia, Haro was the all-around best one.

Too many kids these days worry about whether their bike is good enough, or has the right parts. I've seen people on the most ghetto bikes doing incredible things. It's like we say in the photography business - "It's not the tool, it's the fool".

That's my 2 cents.

I have a 05 Haro Nyquist Pro and its been through hell and back. Yes I have changed a lot of parts but its frame holds up great.

Havent seen you around here for a while!

I liked my Slim Bars too, they never bent and were pretty nice, i only got new bars becuase i wanted wider ones, i gave my Slims to a freind and they are still running strong.

My Haro isnt that heavy, so i dont know what your talking about, i would bet my Haro X3 frame is around 6.5-6 pounds...

littledog 09-27-06 08:57 AM

I am very happy with my Haro X-24 Backtrail. It was well worth the money.

snafu snafyou 09-27-06 09:53 AM

Yeah they are SLIM bars tho thats why i like them so much.

F2Bikerboy 10-02-06 01:48 PM

I have an 05' Haro F2, let me say that is is a decent bike. However, there are some things that I am not happy with. For one, the bead on the stock tires tears out after about four months (I now have dirt monsters and they are fine) the chainwheel is worthless as I bent it to hell and back just by riding. My biggest problem was the rear rim, it's a single wall and I had it turned into an octagon after five months(Just by flatland) I now have the alex y22 double wall and I love it. So I believe that Haro's are to some extent 'over-rated' Just don't buy the F2, get the x2 or 540 air as those were my favorite bikes.
