bmx for short people.
 

i usually ride a track bike but i'm thinking of picking up a bmx bike (street)...i'm 5'4", though...anyone know what length TT i should be looking for? i'm thinking 20-ish? what do yall think?

Below 20.5 for sure, probably 20-20.25, probably closer to 20 though.

But then i'm also 5'10 and ride a 20.1, it's alot to do with your preference.

Yeah 20.5 is a lot of room for your size... I'm 5'6" with a 20.5 toptube and I want to go down to like 20.2... 20 is too small though because then I hit my knees on the bars and/or stem.

fly mosca comes in 19.4 19.8 and 20.2 all good for shorter people im 5'10" and I rode a 20" tt for over a year

Yeah, I like my friend's mosca at 20.2. He's pretty good on it as well. the fly mosca seems awesome but i'm actually looking for a complete--do yall know of any completes in that size range--20" and under? (i'm looking to drop between $300-$400--more or less if it's worth it.)

The 2-hip bizzle and Fit am from Dan's Comp are about that size, the fit is 20" and the 2-hip is 20.25. The DK cincinnati is 19.5 but it's not as nice.

Eww. The Cincinnati is a hog for such a small toptube... even with two brakes.

Fit entry with a 19.75 top tube. im 5'9 and i ride it so i think it must be easier to ride it if yor smaller.

All those good frames come in smaller tt sizes for smaller riders...
I would stay below or at 20.5" unless you ride a bigger frame and like it...

do you know if any of those frames are available in completes? it's not that i'm so picky it's just that a) being inexperienced in bmx, i'm not sure i trust myself to make the best choices in components yet and b) i'm trying to stay below $400-$450 if i can, and that seems easier to do with a complete.

Sorry, but none of the frames come as completes. And the frames themselves all cost around $300 alone, so i don't think a custom build is in your budget.

Look at the Fit Pro and or Intergral Expo completes both are in your price range and have smaller tt lengths.

I'd go with the Fit... cheaper and lighter although it is not fully chromoly. It should handle your needs quite well.

right, i definitely agree that i can't afford a custom build. that's exactly why i was asking about completes. thanks for the suggestions--i'll check out the fit pro and integral expos, although i was hoping to grab something 20" or below, and i've only seen those two with 20.5" TT. but thanks! i know it's a tough question to answer and it's possible that i just won't find the right bike in the right price range, and will have to settle one way or another.

See the thing is, the completes with the smaller tt lenghts are usually the ones with the cheaper parts. And generally that means they wont last as long or they will be heavy. The two bikes that i picked out for you to look at are sort of in the middle as far as how good the parts and frames are to the price and size.
I would assume that the smaller tt bikes with the cheaper and lower ends parts are made like that because they figure the little guys are only the little kids...I think you would be just fine on a 20.5"
