Gary Turner?

I know GT isnt what is was in the 80's or anything close, but what ever happened to Gary Turner? I heard something about him being in a motorcycle crash, but I cant find any info on the internet and Ive tried a 100 different search avenues. Does anyone have any insight?

Thanks, Joseph

i just did a quick search. i dont know if thats going to help or not.

from the article: Pacific won the battle over Huffy buying the Schwinn/GT corporation. Pacific also owns Mongoose. Pacific makes the quality bikes found in K-Mart and other such stores.

gary turner

Yeah, I think its the same guy. Must of been his son then. I dont know what I heard now. There was this bike shop in indianapolis, IN I used to frequent and the owner there has been there for years. He helped get the GT air show in the area in 87. Anyways, he said something to the effect of GT was basically defunct and he wouldnt be carrying them anymore. I believe due to the sellout. I believe his info was correct in Turner having been involved in a motorcycle wreck, but that he was okay but had also been bought out. Its a shame. I really liked the 94 GT pro freestyle, but after Id say 96 they went downhill in their freestyle line.

Not really. From a design standpoint, it's an utter failure.

Skinny tubes with curves, fat tubes with sharp angles? There are 2 separate styles above and below the seat tube.

Eh, doesn't appeal to me... if you want to get a bike like that, get a motorcycle. I don't like motorcycles and would never ride them. I knew a lot of people that died on them.

A beach cruiser dosen't need a liscence to be ridden, it's alot cheaper, and you won't get a speeding ticket on one.

Eh. It's just not my style. I'd rather bring my bmx to the beach and find stuff to ride. I don't like to ride any other bike. I'd also feel insanely stupid and awkward on a beach cruiser.

Doubt it. A proper cruiser is laid back and comfy. And unless you're riding a lame one, or wearing socks with sandals, most people think they're cool.

I guess I don't like laid back and comfy? I don't know. I probably wouldn't ride one until I got much older.

I'm older. This is what I used to ride to the beach on Sundays, and my wife rode the one below it. We'd find a cafe and stop for a coffee. I know this will make you cringe, but we spent about $1200 for a pair of cruisers.

That was in Australia. About the same amount as my Haro cruiser and Felt race bikes cost. Another $500-something for my Backtrail X3, plus whatever we spent on the tandem. Back then, I could afford to piss away money on bikes.

That's still crazy. I wish I could piss away money on bikes.
