Snowboarding/skiing

just curious on who else snowboards during the 'off' season you could say.

FitRider 921 01-01-07 06:44 PM

I rock crutches all year round.

Brian 01-01-07 06:49 PM

We get 500+ inches of snow here. I just might have to learn to play in it.

wethepeople 01-01-07 08:00 PM

I go sledding most of the time.

And when that isnt good enough we tie a canoe behind my truck and drag it, it's fun because it doesnt steer.

Chris Gabriel 01-01-07 08:42 PM

I snowskate. Too poor for snowboarding.

premiumbmx2005 01-01-07 09:34 PM

yeah snowboarding prices are outrageous

FuzzyRyder 01-01-07 10:46 PM

I snowboard, alot. I'll post some pictures of my back yard soon.

I'm Snowboarding at the moment (not literally, im at a resort in switzerland). But i'm **** at it

Chris Gabriel 01-02-07 01:08 PM

Its so expensive. My brother just bought a board and bindings and it ost like $560

then boots are like 100+
jacket and pants 300+
goggles 50+
gloves 40+

FuzzyRyder 01-02-07 01:27 PM

Yeah, it's not really much more expencive then bmx though. My bike has cost me around $1000, and my snowboard set up is just over $900. But then include goggles, jacket, pants, gloves, lift tickets, and it's a bit more haha.

You have some expensive hobbies.

premiumbmx2005 01-02-07 04:45 PM

i just spent like 250 on a **** board. i ended up cracking it learning 540's because i would land too much on the tail.

Yeah, those two are the most expencive. I skate too, not much though, usually just when I can't ride my bike. Skating is cheap though. I also wake skate which isnt to bad if you already have a boat.

Skating is decently cheap. You can buy a nice deck with all the nice parts for like $150. I wish biking was that cheap.

FuzzyRyder 01-02-07 05:20 PM

Well in canada about $270 for a nice set up. But thats still cheap. My snowboard boots alone cost alot more then that.

premiumbmx2005 01-02-07 05:22 PM

yeah im going to just get some used board. i can get a morrow for like 30 bucks. it was a rage. they make horrible bikes too...sweet!

i also have a whole new view on people new to riding...just trying to learn about something as seemingly simple as snowboarding is really hard. i can only imagine how hard it must be for biking.

FuzzyRyder 01-02-07 05:24 PM

I know what you mean. I'm very educated in both the bmx, and snowboarding scenes. I'm acctualy unsure witch I prefer.

MadMan2k 01-02-07 05:33 PM

Photography makes any board sport or BMX look cheap... especially if you get hooked on that terrible-but-sweet brand that starts with L

Road or MTB racing gives it a run for its money though, with the quest to build the lightest bike you can without making it too weak, but making it too weak anyway and destroying it every season... actually that's BMX too but the parts are cheaper for us :p

wethepeople 01-02-07 05:48 PM

Fork for my BMX=$120.00
Fork for my MTB=$2100.00

premiumbmx2005 01-02-07 05:49 PM

oh my.

My user title is a hint. Canon bodies might be expensive for the good ones, but most of their lenses aren't 3 grand..
