Question on modern frames

i want to buy a new frame soon. I used to ride an old Standard shamen back in 2000 and it had a 19.75tt. I think it was a hair too small but I loved how it road. I now have an old We The people KHO1 prolly from 02 or 03 tt i think it is 21 dont quote me, i know it's bigger tho... and i dont like it. So i go on Dans and look around, there isnt many shorter tt frames anymore, seemes like they phased it out. anyone know why?

What i want is a somewhat light frame with inverted brake mounts, 20'' tt, any bb, NO INTERGRATED headtube... the best feeling frame to me was a cheaper Haro R series frame, i dont know why i think it has to do with the geometry, but i wouldent wanna ridea haro anyone got any recommendations? i dont care about price.

I can't even begin to imagine why you wouldn't want an integrated headset.

So does the AA. He would be stupid not to get an integrated headset now.

i agree with that 100% good read if your a tech junkie like me.

I have always wanted a chris king headset tho.... all of my bikes are intergrated. If i have to use one i have to use one, it's not that big of a deal. im more curious about the tt length q.

According to that^^ most newer bmx frames then use "internal headsets" aka "semi Integrated", not integrated.

dont you find it odd that that information is coming from a standard headset company who wants to sell their product? They are going to be biased against intergrated because it is replacing their beloved standard headset. And dont you also find it odd that they cannot produce a picture of a 'worn' intergrated frame? Thats because there is no wear, more or less, because the headsets aluminum and will not wear away at the steel.

im pretty positive im right, but who knows.

Well this really only applies to mountain bikes anyway, because I can't think of any bmx frames that acctually use an integrated headset, Most use the Fsa or kink version which is a "Semi integrated" since it has cups that sit inside the frame. So their argument is useless as far a bmx goes.

Anyone who doubts Chris Kings engineering knowledge and thinks it's just a marketing ploy needs to have their head checked. I have ridden inturnal and intergrated and never had any problems. I just wanted a regular headset that's all. if i have to use intergrated then i will. it's not a big deal. im not here to start a "whats better thread"

Mr. King likes to make money, therefore I doubt his reasoning. The most expensive does not always make it the best.

Pig headsets are bombproof and i used them for years. Ya I used to think the exact same thing as you guys do, Ya they are expensive when i was your age thats the last thing id spend that kinda money on. IMO chris king is so expensive is because your paying for the customer service and for the for R+D. The Chris King headsets have an awsome warrenty (10 years, and they will stand behind it). I have seen a few headsets that were trashed, and im not going to lie they were usually caused by improper installation. idk how many times i have talked to bad tech guys. the guys at CK know everything i ask. Im not saying go out and buy one it comes down to what you can afford. dont bash them cause they are expensive.

It's like going to the Olive garden verses Burger king, they both will fill you up. But you will get a little better food and customer service at the OG, but ya pay more.

From what I've seen, Kings like to crack on BMX's but they have a very good warranty.

I broke a CK headset in a month, not even riding that hard; and, yes, it was installed properly.

Total waste of $110; if I still used a standard headset, I'd definitely be rocking the Solid (again). Now that thing could take some abuse.

No he wouldn't they make regular headtube ones. Just not as many in each batch.

Get the Solid or maybe an older Fit S2 with your normal headtube despite the fact that they are heavier and have no benifits.
