Fenders

Anyone ever put/seen fenders on a BMX? I want to get one that I can easily put on/take off of my back wheel, because it soaks my ass when we have puddles.

I'd feel cool about making my own, if anyone can suggest a design. I was thinking about maybe something that would attach to my pegs, so I could take it on and off quickly.

What do y'all think?

maybe. i dont see why not.

Fender

long, but it might work

You can usually pick up these fenders at your local Xmart, they just go through the hole in your brake bridge and they actually work really well.

holy franken-bike, Batman!

Took a few days to weld up and get to work, but it's pretty fun.

new_dharma 02-19-07 08:13 PM

interesting...do I need to ask HOW it rides, or do the looks say it all?

mude 02-19-07 08:14 PM

are you the kid that rides in the sewer?

wethepeople 02-19-07 08:17 PM

It actually rides decently, there is a lot of sag in the back end so I need to set up the shock correctly. The only real problems with it is because it's full suspension, you cannot run single speed without a dérailleur to take up the tension and of course I have a coaster brake on it so it doesn't work well. I have since fixed this by adding a front brake, and it has an incredible (un-nerving at first, but fun when you get used to it) amount of brake dive as the rear end unweights itself because of the braking force. The other problem is just getting used to the chicago'd handling.

when i first looked at it i just asumed it was a regular 40$ x-mart bike. the i looked closer and realized your like a bike genius

If you mean the kid with the ghetto bike, no he's not.

If you mean me, then yes, I'm the kid who rides in "sewers." That's part of why I need the fenders.

you could ride on the street and stay away from disease and rats

eightdip 02-21-07 07:48 AM

Since when would that avoid disease and rats?

...or you could stop knocking my style. I calculate the risks and do what I want. My choice is to live life on my own terms. If you're more comfortable living life in a bubble, that's your choice.

That is one cool piece of crap. I wish I had that much skill to do something like that.

i would hardly call riding my bike above the ground in the open air (or in a large building with various ramps of sorts 'living in a bubble'

I call 'em like I see 'em; looks to me like your body gets plenty of exercise, but you keep your heart and mind in a box. If that's what makes you comfortable, whatev.
