new_dharma 03-09-07 08:16 PM

National Automotive Parts Association
Auto parts store

wethepeople 03-09-07 08:49 PM

I worked at NAPA up until a while ago, then I quit because the pay sucked, the work sucked and the management sucked.

FitRider 921 03-09-07 09:52 PM

I need to get a job. Suggestions?

+1 on all that
BUT it pays the bills

Once the Shop gets going, I hope to quit (but having medical insurance is nice)

sell youself out...build bikes for wal-mart!

FitRider 921 03-09-07 09:55 PM

Word. Medical insurance has kept my family out of the slumbs. Breaking a leg + surgery + many doctors appointments + physical therapy twice a week for a few months = a large sack of money

I'm rather sell semen and blood.

new_dharma 03-09-07 10:39 PM

there is that!

MadMan2k 03-09-07 11:49 PM

We don't have health insurance, I'd be screwed if I broke anything that bad.

And it's spelled semen.

The local bike shop around me sucks and is run by old people. The not so local one isn't much better, and is wayyyy overpriced. $50 for unsealed, non-magnesium, jimmy c's.

mude 03-10-07 11:45 AM

you should ask them to start matching dans/albes/empire/staff

FitRider 921 03-10-07 12:17 PM

Not really, they wouldn't do it. They would probably lose money, as they can't afford to sell products for 30-40% less.

mude 03-10-07 12:31 PM

why not, other companies do just fine

FitRider 921 03-10-07 02:24 PM

Other companies probably get better prices from their distributors, hence why they can sell parts for so much less.

MadMan2k 03-10-07 04:11 PM

They have to stay in business, so they have to mark stuff up. Our mark-up on USB cables is about 90 percent, which compensates for the fact that we have to sell the printers pretty close to what they cost.

I'm thinking about seeing if my bike shop has a job open, although I'd probably make even less I think I would enjoy it more, and I like working for small shops a lot more than retail stores.
