lower gyro
It's really nice out, so I decided to work on my bike. I started off fine, but I'm having difficulty getting my lower gyro off. I've hit it with a hammer and tried poking it with a screwdriver to wedge it out but can't get it out. What should I do? Also, for some odd reason, the dual cable won't come out.

cutting torch?? OH!!! 10-ton press (or larger...) (sorry...i don't know the 'real' answer!) |
Yeah, the hammer seems to do nothing other than bend it.

Maybe here: gyro removal
I need more info on the lower gyro.
i tried...

Thank you. I forgot to say it and didn't mean it to sound the way it did. I looked on a lot of boards and googled it and couldn't find anything useful.
Saw, thats how i got mine off
There has to be an easier way. I'm about ready to just cut all my brakes off. Too much work.
did you try the mechanics forum? You never know

Good stuff. The things in there even made me cringe. They were really nasty.

Just grab a sawzall and a metal cutting blade and chop anyhting that has to do with braking.
That's starting to sound like a good idea.
It's what i did, never regretted it
Word.
So, can anyone actually help me? Do you guys need pictures?

The lover gyro tabs are held on by being pressed undernieth the top headset cup. Take your fork off, get a big flathead screw driver and put the head in throught the bottom of the head tube and rest it against the inside lip of the headset cup. Tap it out with a hammer. Rotate the screwdriver head to different spots on the inside of the cup, it will come out faster, and with less chance of messing stuff up. If your headset cups have never been removed it should take fairly hard hits to tap it out, don't be afraid to hit it hard.

Oh, okay. I guess that would make sense to why just beating my gyro senseless with a hammer didn;t get it off. Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow. It's 11:30 right now and I don't think my parents would appreciate the sounds of a hammer.

Get pics.
