Riding flatland when there's no flat land

So I used to ride flat in high school but since moving to SF I've barely done it. Time is an issue, but the biggest problem is that there's not a ton of flat land in San Francisco. The only spots I really know of are miles away, and with flat gearing biking there would take days. In high school I literally had a huge parking lot across the street from my house so I could ride whenever.

So I know it's kind of a dumb question, but any ideas?

find flat spot, on your property, and have it paved.

You moving to the side of Mt. Everest or something? I find It hard to believe there is no parking lots or not busy back roads within miles of you.

Nope, nothing within a pretty large area...my area was formerly all industry so all the roads are busted or busy, and many have inclines/declines thanks to our famous hills.

I did just find a lot not *too* far away (thanks Google satellite maps!) so I might scout that later today and see if it's a decent spot. The garage in my building is pretty packed with cars so that wouldn't work.

Samer here, in those red bull comps they do it in a relativley small circle. Do you have a yard? I have heard of people laying out sheets of plywood to ride on.

Go check out global-flat.com...there are a bunch of cali guys that hang out there that can probably point you in the right direction. A guy named MUTT kinda keeps track of the flatland scene there, so he'd be a good guy to check with.
