I have had my diamondback viper for a while now, and i love it... but i am planning on replacing the whole handle bar with one i ordered online... How can i take the current one off? I have alan wrenches, but i heard it is very difficult. Also how long will it take? Thanks a bunch

You'll have to undo the 2 bolts holding the bars in place on the stem, remove the grips and bar ends (if any), and the brake lever(s) (if any).

The bolts are easy, just loosen them and pop the plate off, don't lose the bolts. The bar ends usually take a philips screwdriver to unscrew, but don't screw farther than you have to. The grips, get a can of WD-40, put the hose under one side and spray it. Don't do it over your nice carpet or with a $1000 dress suit on (no ****?). Then wiggle that side, do the other side, and slide the grip off. Dry it out and slip it back on when you need to - WD40 dries cleanly so they should stick on without needing adhesive. The brake lever is a no-brainer, loosen the bolt enough to slide it and that's all.

Oh, and tighten the bolts plenty when you put the new bars on, because if they slip, it shaves pieces of metal off which causes it to slip more, and become crappy.

Sounds about right. But when you loosen the bar ends, tap the screw in to loosen them fully

i think the easiest way for getting grips on and off and using a air compressor..just take a attachment that can just blow the air straight out and lift up a corner of the grip and start blowing the air and pull..once you get it off partial way then u just put the tip of the air hose down there and let the air blow and pull the grips itll make them sorta baloon up and slip on and off extremly easy and you dont have to wait for anything to dry

If what MadMan told you is too difficult you can always to your bike to a shop and have it done.
