Bike on plane?

Has anyone ever taken their bike on a plane? I'm flying to Maryland soon and I want to take it but I'm not driving. I was thinking of taking it apart and putting it in a suitcase and then taking all my clothes in a carry on bag or I suppose I could ship it. The problem with that is my mom doesn't have any tools so I would have to have mude come over and help me put it together .

It's a different site, but it's also been discussed here a few times.

This is a good excuse to buy yourself some tools. Go for the suitcase route, that'd be easiest.

i'd by rhe bag.
and if it has any logos on it remove them so the plane people dont know its a bike otherwise they might give you a hassle, also some places try and charge you extra for a bike (hence the reason you remove the logos from the bag)

I dunno about that though. This question came up and SSFG, and someone said that it's more likely to get thrown around if it's nondescript, whereas if they know it's a bike, they'll treat it with respect and be careful with it. But if you'd rather save the money, I guess you could risk it.
