manuals

I have been practicing manuals for about 3 hours today. My arms are pretty sore. I have blisters all over my hands and I came in and my dad told me to stop working so hard . I still can only hold a manual for like 2 seconds I've watched how-to's and videos and I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right so I guess I need to keep practicing. How long did it take you guys to be able to hold a decent manual? I also have another question. It might be stupid but I haven't posted a stupid question in a while so I figured I should . The bottom of my pegs are scratched up from grinding, should I bother to rotate them or something or no? Thanks guys.

Just keep practicing your manuals, and hopefully, you will get them. I was never very good at them. Pegs are pegs, there is no need to rotate them unless they are on the verge of cracking. Basically, your paint is just being stripped off of them, and maybe a little bit of material.

Ya, pegs are pretty resilient, I ran a pair of Mosh pegs to the point where they were flat before I got new ones.

Manuals are like that. They're more stable with speed, but it also hurts a lot more to bail when you're going fast. Keep practicing for a couple hundred more hours (yes, I'm serious) and you should be alright at them.

One time when I was trying a manual I leaned a bit too far back, so I bailed like I normally do. Unfortunately for me my foot/shoe got caught on the back peg and I landed on my butt. It didn't hurt to bad, but my leg got twisted in a strange way and I couldn't run very fast for a few days after than.

You can probably manual better than I can right now. I got back on my bike today after being frustrated with my brakes and just played around a little bit with small hops and manuals. I'm too scared to do anything more and I don't want to land on my leg too hard yet. I also tried to do some easy grinds, but I keep nosecasing and doing smiths by accident... I'm too scared to go high enough.

As in, I hop high enough to grind, but I'm tentative, so I just slam the front down instead of landing evenly... hence the smith.

the only way i can do smiths is by accident,
hence whenever i do smiths i just pretend im going for a feeble. it always works.

Still dosent make sence to me. There is a bit more to doing smiths then slamming your front peg down, and I don't see how a feeble could accidently turn into a smith either...
