Will this work?

If I was to get cranks with a Euro bottom bracket (mine's American) would this work? In the future I plan on upgrading stuff, and the cranks will probably be one of the first.

I know that there's nothing wrong with American BB's, but most racing cranks are made for Euro. I think Profile makes racing cranks for American BB's though.

ok there are two different sized spindles 22mm and 19mm so this means that only the bearings change size. Euro run a 19mm. and US run a 22mm. so just make sure when you are ordering the cranks that they come with the right size spindle.

check the spindle sizes. i maybe wrong

You are only partially wrong. You can get any bottom bracket for a BMX bike in either 22mm or 19mm. Most company's make both.

What if you have a 19mm on an American BB, and the cranks you want are only Euro but have a 19mm? Would those crank arms fit on that bottom bracket or not?

Why would I have to worry about the bearings if I was to just change the arms?

As long as he takes care of his bike, the stock bearings should be fine.

It wont work, however if you have one piece cranks. But if you have 3pc American bb cranks on right now you are fine though.

I've used two european bottom brackets with profiles and they were fine. I think most of the problems were with the primo's and 22mm spindles since it was that much smaller bearings.

I'm having a hard time figuring out why you would want to get that, but...

If you are going to buy a new frame it will probably have a mid or a spanish bottom bracket. If you get one with a mid, you can use american bottom bracket bearings. Just pop them out of the aluminum cup things and you're good.

The only way you will probably end up with a european bottom bracket frame is if you get one second hand or a close out sale.

I dont know if this relates to what youre talking about.

I wouldn't get anything with a Mid or Spanish bb because I would only buy a racing frame. I don't do anything except race, so that's what I would get. And most really good racing frames have a European bb.
