getting back into it

sup?
I'm currently thinking about getting back into biking (school n work suck). A few of my friends have taken up trail riding (roots, logs etc) but nothing hardcore because this is the first bikes they have owned since they were five. Anyways, the only bike i have right now is a WTP metric, so im looking for another BMX bike to take out and ride around on. I used to ride ona Trek Vert 1-2, but gave it to my nephew. My budget is 250-300 USD. I'm about 5'9 around 155-160lbs. Only really want something thats soild w/ a 3pc crank. Can i get this for 300 or under these days? Thanks alot, Brandon.

PS am i gona kick myself in the ass for trying to ride around on this type of terrain? i knw the hills will be a B%#*@, but i want something i can still hop around on :)

slmgringo 06-05-07 04:01 PM

wethepeople 06-05-07 04:04 PM

Traildigger is a horrible bike.

slmgringo 06-05-07 04:06 PM

eightdip 06-05-07 04:11 PM

Yep, get a six pack.

wethepeople 06-05-07 04:17 PM

Nothing wrong with their more expensive completes, but the cheapies suck.

cwt341 06-05-07 04:35 PM

well i didnt make it out to sun and ski, but i stopped in the local bike shop. Talked to a very knowledgeable gentleman who said he would have a Felt built 2mrw thats 100%chromeoly, w/ a 3pc crank. Any experience w/ Felts? He said it would be around 275 range, plus a few free tuneups etc. Thanks for all the replies.

BTW, this is off topic but i was looking @ an old dans comp catalog i had lying around and saw a device called the "mcclain rollers". anyone know what exactly its used for? the description in the catalog only says "Improve your spinning, balance and form while training indoors. Rollers are made from PVC pipe with sealed bearings. Fully adjustable to fit everything from minis to cruisers." I tried to see if there was a video on youtube or something but nothing came up. Anyways thx again, pz.

That's partially correct.

Felts are good, I had one road bike, and one of their BMX bikes. Good value.

Rollers just allow you to ride your bike indoors. Basically, you just spin in place. Boring!

They look sort of difficult to do. I want to try some.

You just set your back tire in the two rollers and set your front tire in the front. How could that be so hard?

Balance and speed are key, and there are more than a few people who have had entertaining stories of learning to use rollers :p .

And then get on and pedal. No worries.

mathblaster 06-07-07 03:11 PM

Why does everybody say go out and buy a new complete? Check craigslist and ebay. Just take a little more time when buying used and make sure you know what your getting...

slmgringo 06-07-07 03:56 PM

well gentlemen (and ladies?) today i went back by the bikeshop and picked up the felt. Its a felt fuse...and it cost me 278USD after tax. has everything i wanted, ill be giving it a run this weekend. Thx for all the replies and suggestions.

minichamp31 06-07-07 08:02 PM

Cool. Good luck with it.
