First off, when you became a member of BikeForums, you agreed to spell out words to the best of your ability- doing that would be much appreciated by the members.

A bike from Walmart is not really going to hold up to too much at all. How old are you and what is your height and weight? Depending on that, you may wish to spend more on a better bike as no one is going to be able to suggest a bike to you at that price.

You could look into getting something used. You could probably find a fairly decent used bmx bike for around $150.

What type of riding do you want to do? Street, flatland, park, dirt or a combination of some? Cause you don't want to end up with a dirt/trail bike when you wanted to do flatland or street.

So make sure when you look for a bike to get a street specific bike. It will help out a lot in the long run.

I got a Hoffman Disrupter EL2 about half a year ago, but it wasn't made for flatland. It was heavy, the brakes didn't work all that well, etc. So now I'm looking into getting a flatland specific complete. I should have done this in the first place but oh well.

You could try craigslist.org and look for a used bike.

Depending on how hard you ride your bike, a wal-mart bike might not hold up very long. But I don't know. I've never had a wal-mart BMX bike before. If you are just doing basic stuff a wal-mart bike might be OK for the time being, but if it falls apart withing a few months of hard riding don't be surprised.

But I'm not an expert on wal-mart bikes or any bikes really. I'm still a beginner when it comes to BMX.

A Walmart bike is not going to hold up to anything. You weigh more than me and I'm pretty smooth on my bike (Fit Pro) and it's falling apart on me. If I were you, I would wait a bit longer and save up some more money and buy a better bike.

You are not smooth, you ride street, and you are learning, and you just aren't smooth. Unless you get me a video.

I'm a smooth street rider. You don't have to ride trails to be smooth.

Woohoo! Now they have bikes with 3-piece cranks at Wal-Mart...yesss. And they're Mongooses. For a starter bike they may not actually be so bad.

I didn't say that, but some come with 3-piece cranks which is what you want.

Get a used bmx bike non-walmart... trust me a bike ridden softly for a year thats non walmart will last you longer than a new wal mart bike. it could be in your price range too.

for minichamp: 3 peice is a good thing on a wal mart bike, but that probably means they took money away from other things. got a picture?

I know the chaos next my freind rode not so hard got messed up headset, cranks, pedals, bars, seat post clamp, and yeah you get the point.

Actually I found two Wal-Mart bikes with 3-piece cranks. But yeah, live4muzic, they probably did take out other things.
