I came to my decision ( Almost )

So, i took a lot on the web, and coupons and stuff. So my 2 opinions are the Kink Gap (279.99) and Kink Whip ($329.99).

Kink Gap
http://www.danscomp.com/101657.php

Kink Whip
http://www.danscomp.com/101658.php?cat=BIKES

So i could get the Kink Gap shipped with a 1 year subsciption to Ride Bmx for $275 and the Kink Whip shipped with the 1 year to ride bmx for $328. That's like $53 difference. And the only difference in parts between those bikes are

Kink gap has a 36 tooth chainwheel and Kink Whip has 33 tooth.

Gap has ZX25 Sun Rim's and Whip has 36H Sun Rims

Those are the only difference for $53 dollars.

The more expensive one has a cassette hub, too. And different paint jobs. I'm not sure if those would be the best choice, though, they say they have a 4130 'main' frame, but not 'full' like ones that usually do have a real cromoly frame. It seems like there's some better bikes for not much more money that you should look at.

Is a cassete hub a big difference, from the other one. I like these ones because there like 5 pounds lighter then the DK 6 Pack and i can never break a frame or anything really. Thanks

Go for the Kink whip, best to pay more to get more

minichamp31 07-06-07 04:08 PM

I like the look of the Gap better, but the Whip has better parts, mainly the cassette hub.

Punx 07-06-07 04:09 PM

Is there a big difference it doesn't seem like it though. Then i could put the extra $53 into parts for the gap.

eightdip 07-06-07 04:10 PM

You will want the cassete hub, trust me

Punx 07-06-07 04:10 PM

What's the difference, and are there any $20 cassete hubs, then i could put $30 for a new sprocket :).

eightdip 07-06-07 04:37 PM

$20 cassete hubs! Ha!

Cassete Hubs cost, what? $80? Sprockets are like $50 aswell I think. Cassete hubs last a hell of a lot longer. You would not believe how many freewheels i went through. Seriously, cassete hubs are great

FitRider 921 07-06-07 04:41 PM

Cassette hubs for $80 are pretty hard to find as well. Since we are on the topic of hubs, I was thinking for my front wheel I should get a Sun Rhynolight laced to a Macneil hub with DT Spokes. Ballin?

Punx 07-06-07 04:52 PM

So is it worth $53 for the cassete hub? I don't think i will break a hub if i do i'll just buy a new one, which would be like in a year. Thanks for the help.

MadMan2k 07-06-07 05:25 PM

Yeah, I would go with the cassette. My bike has a freewheel, and it's been fine, but the hub itself is so-so and if you can get a nicer one for a little more (it says that one is sealed), I would.

eightdip 07-06-07 05:26 PM

Definatly go for the cassete hub

live4muzic2 07-06-07 10:37 PM

end of story, get the cassette hub.

Punx 07-07-07 09:45 AM

Ok, i like the look of the Whip more, so i'm going to have spend $328 now :(. I have to wait a while, as i bought a $690 bike, 16 days ago, and we got a camper van for 6k yesterday night. Thanks everyone, does anyone have any Kink's on this forum, also what should i upgrade when i get it, i was thinking new sprocket?

FitRider 921 07-07-07 10:26 AM

That's good that you are buying the Whip over the Gap. As for upgrades, save your money and then buy things when your parts break. If you just start upgrading, you won't have enough money to buy new things when they break.

Punx 07-07-07 10:55 AM

Ok thanks. What are some parts that like will probably break.

FitRider 921 07-07-07 11:49 AM

Pedals, bars, and forks are usually the first to go on completes. If you really want to buy something right away, get some good grips like Edwins or Longnecks.

Punx 07-07-07 12:09 PM

Lol. Ok, i'll look at that. What about Lock-On's i know there good for mtbing but i don't know about bmx?

MadMan2k 07-07-07 12:23 PM

Lock ons are terrible, unless you need to put them on and off daily or something.

live4muzic2 07-07-07 12:36 PM

Fit suggested long necks(which are lock ons) i ride them, but the only problem i face is the allens get stripped very easily.

FitRider 921 07-07-07 01:18 PM

Longnecks are not necessarily lock-on grips, they come normal as well.

eightdip 07-07-07 05:05 PM

Longneck normals = Best grips ever

live4muzic2 07-07-07 05:58 PM

o, i wish i had the non lock on ones.

KinetikBiker 07-07-07 08:39 PM

Damn. That Kink Roc or whatever is freaking dialed.
