picture this, riding along, u arrive at a big cardboard box, you are crouched down cranks centered, lift up the front wheel so it clears the box, then suck up your legs, right to your chest, your seat should hit you in the ass, at the same time push forward with you arms. its all about making the rear end light, get your fat ass of the seat. and get that front wheel up high. practice bunny hops without lifting the back of the bike, just sheer front end pop. practice getting the back end of the bike up in the air with out using your brakes, combine the two. magic.

Good job actually answering somebody's post with an actual answer!

While I generally search forums for an answer before I post a question, it shouldn't be required. Yeah I know it is inconvenient having to answer the same question every day or two, and sure it can make the forums look messy it there are TOO many of the same questions, but hey, think of it as a way to get your post count higher (withOUT doing a super-easy 'search nOOb, cause we professional flamerz' or 'word' post:p).

Besides, forums aren't supposed to be libraries or knowledge bases where you search and search for answers. You come, register, post, and (hopefully) a person gives you an answer. :) Searching beforehand is obviously a good idea, but if someone does happen to post a commonly asked question, SOMEone should have enough time to give a simple answer (not too simple, lol). At least a link to another thread/site if you happen to be in a big hurry.

Well that is enough of the off-topic stuff. (Hope I didn't offend anybody with my criticism :o)

i mention large cardboard boxes, because there it appears solid and will give way upon impact. there is a mental factor in hopping tall objects, which the box sort of approaches, however, when you go try that 3 foot metal guardrail, the mental factor pops right back up. another approach to getting the back end of the bike up is to try static step ups.
roll toward your average curb pop the front wheel and once its on the curb, lift the back wheel up and over. work your way up higher and higher obstacles. its the same technique with out the front end pop.
by the way bike weight means nothing, only your strength and mainly poor technique prevents you from sucess. rear end front end weight, what?
anyway what do some of regulars on this site think? i haven't done a real bunnyhop in several years, back problems, etc.
