Changing Gears
Right now I'm running 44/16 gearing for racing. I'm not tired at all during the race and can still keep pedaling. I want to go with a higher rollout. I'm thinking about going to a 42/15 gear setup, would this make a big difference in my speed?

It wouldn't make a major difference; it would just make it a little easier to pedal and you would lose a little bit of speed. You probably wouldn't even notice.

You probly shouldn't be asking here about gearing ratios. Ask other racers at your track, or people that used to race and such.

Assuming you are running 20 * 1.75 tires 44 * 16 gives you 53.7 gear inches and 42 * 15 gives you 54.6, this is a pretty small change. The change will in theory give you slightly slower acceleration and slightly higher top speed. Whether this makes a difference in your racing will depend a lot on how you ride and what the tracks you ride are like. I run 56.5 gear inches on my cruiser.
