What to look for in a new BMX bike
Hey I'm looking for a new bike and instead of asking what bikes are best, I would just like to know a few things I should look for. What sort of things separate a racing BMX from an all-around BMX or a dirt jumping BMX bike. I would like a BMX for dirt jumping and riding with friends and I do not know enough about BMX's yet to go looking around and decide for myself which is best. Could anyone tell me a few things about the bikes I should look for or watch out for? Thanks!

Things to look for:
- Full chromo frame and forks - Sealed pedals, cranks, headset, hubs If a bike those features it should be pretty decent but if you can, - Look for a bike with some brand-name parts (odyssey, primo, etc) |
Pedals being sealed or unsealed is not too big of a deal though.

I would highly suggest brakes
|
brakes are gay.

what is a good light bmx bike
|
just look on danscomp. they have all of the stock weights of the bikes on there.
and im with live4music: sealed pedals dont really matter. if you get em, great. you dont really need em though. my unsealed pedals have been goin four years strong now. and im with fuzzy. brakes are stupid. just extra weight that you dont really need. and theyre a pain in the ass to fix. |
what is a good brand of bike from dans comp

Depending on your budget most of the complete bikes off of Danscomp are going to be a good buy. Look into Eastern. DK will make good bikes for dirt jumping. Check out the six-pack or four-pack. We The People completes always look amazing and have good parts on them but are a little more pricey. Theres obviously fit completes but to get anywhere near decent parts you have to buy close to the top end ones. Stolens are really nice and again come with nice parts.
