The Biggest Pedals
 

Hi, I've done some searches in this section and have found that the BMX people are "in the know" when it comes to pedals. Here's the deal: I have these comfort pedals that I've been using and the rubber knobs are all breaking off. They did it right from the start. Poor quality rubber I'd imagine for $10. I'm thinking about going with the Odyssey Jim C. pedals. They seem to be somewhat similiar in platform design but of course its metal and will last. I also saw some reviews for the Diamondback Bigfoot 3 and they claim its a good cheap pedal also. Anyway, I have a "big foot" and I think I would like to get a bigger pedal so my feet will be more happy. I do like to stand up as I ride. The dimensions on the pedal I'm using are 4" wide x 3" long.(platform)

Does anyone know what the dimensions are for the Odyssey Jim C. pedal? Is is much bigger then what I have? I've heard people talk about the allen heads piercing through their shoes but these are smaller. I will be pedalling hard at times. Any advice?

the primo tenderizer are huge. i took a look at em in my LBS and i just couldnt get over how big they are. and theyre cheap

Not a huge fan of the tenderizers.
I onlt run them because I broke a pedal and needed new ones urgently.

What size is your shoe? My friend has sz 15 and runs the Shadow Nostras, they fit.

Actually, my foot is only a 13. Glad its not any bigger. It would be harder to find shoes. Mmmm. Shadow Nostras? I don't know. Those seem to be part of some evil conspiracy. Do I want to become part of that? I'll have to think about it. Lol.

the tenderizers are heavy, but really strong. a friend of mine rode em for like two years an didnt have any problems with em except for having a loose pin every now and again

I like them, they're nice and grippy without having all the pins in.

The Shadow Nostra is an interesting pedal. Looking at it closer, it actually has the outsides wider then the insides. Why is this? The Primo Tenderizer looks like it has fixed pins. Both have amazing knurling.

I might just get the original Jim C. and start with that first.

Are they. Ok. Well I did order them for $27 which seems like a good deal. As long as they're bigger then what I have. If not, no big loss. My 2nd choice would have been the shadow nostras. I still might get them if the Jim C sucks. Since you, or your friend is running the Nostras fuzzbox, can you take a measurement of the length and width of the platform and tell me what it is?

It is a little over 4" long and a little over 3 1/2" wide. I'll have to remeasure with a real measuring device later.

Yeah, so far so good. One thing though, they put short pins on the front and back and long pins on the sides. When you put all the short pins in where the longer ones are, they are too short. So I cut and filed the longer ones to match the shorter ones. I felt the longer ones were grabbing my shoe. The short pins have plenty of grip for "on road" use. Also, I painted the insides black because the pedals were too shiny for me. I was going to get the black pedals but the paint will just wear off and end up looking like what I have now.

The Jc pedals are still working great.

I got these lightweight DK Pc's and put them on an old road bike. Simply awesome! I had to re-adjust the bearings though as mine were a little bit tight.
