Problems with 180's - *Videos inside*
Well i haven't rode in a week or 2 (been working). So i decided to ride a bit today and try some 180s... Well i figured out what i was doing wrong... i wasnt using the bars as the axis for my spin. I was using the center of the bike. I was messing around and tweeking my bars when i felt the back turn so i applyed this to my sad attempts at 180's i can spin it now... actually over spin... but still cant land them... check these out and give some advice...:bike2:

Im thinking about just trying 360's ...
|
Just practice.
It will come to you trust me. |
Blah body hurts and its wet out...
|
It looks like the momentum of the spin caries me over sideways... like i cant stay centered over the bike going in to fakie...

You look different in every vid/pic you post

He may be talking ****, but he's right. Seeing as you can't rollback yet, 180ing into grass is gonna shut you down everytime. Spend some time learning to rollback - there's no real trick to it, you just gotta put in the time. When I learned to rollback, it took me a solid hour of doing nothing but rolling up a ramp & going backards to get it down.
In your first vid - you did the 180 & if you were in the street, & could rollback, you'd have pulled it. Another tip - do a small carve into the 180. And yes, I pay my own bills and don't want to get hurt also. But lets face it - we're talking hop 180's NOT double-backflips. To me it looks like you're over-exaggerating your crashes in your vids. I can't remember ever not staying on my feet on a 180 gone wrong. -Bill |

Local skateparks?
And there are other ways to get going backwards. From a curb endo, or go down a small hill, or push with your feet until you get going... THINK! This is BMX, not rocket surgery. You need to start looking at everything with different eyes. Open your mind, if one way doesn't work, try a different way. And staying on your feet is even better than rolling out of falls. I've gotten rather good at running out of things. -Bill |

Ok your 180 looks good. It's just the rollout you need to work on

Tried hills & pushing off? How long did you try? I didn't get it down in 5 min when I learned rollbacks, it was an hour nonstop of rolling up & back down. And yeah - for a while I fell over sideways (but I would put my foot out to catch me). I didn't quit then - I kept trying. So keep your mind open when riding & keep trying. Good luck! -Bill |
Do a footjam to get going backwards. I don't have any curbs either and thats what I do to practice rollouts.
|
There would have to be some sort of bank, drain, wall to push off, etc for you to practice your fakies.
|
inclined driveway.
|
Pull up a little more when you hop, as well.
|
it doesnt even look like your lifting your front wheel first. It looks like your just lifting both wheels at the same time. And if you wanna try 360s, your gonna need to carve and lift the front wheel higher.
|
hop higher
