Which Haro for an 11 year old? X1?

Hi. Maybe I'm being obsessive, but I've been bike shopping and researching for the last two days and am driving myself crazy. What bike would you all recommend for an eleven year old boy for general riding around and maybe some tricks - no BMX track. We like the Haros, but the F1 seemed too heavy. Can anyone give me any input on the X1 (30 lb.), which is what the Haro guy recommended? I'd like to spend under $300 and want it to last a while. What's considered a reasonable weight bike for a pre-teen? He weighs about 100 lb. He likes the neon pink x1- will we live to regret that?
Thanks in advance for your help, Batsheva

spend a little more and get a dk 6 pack or stolen wrap. better value and you wont have to upgrade anytime soon.

X1 has only a CroMo down tube. The best value, although costs more is a full CroMo frame and fork. More durable and stronger than hi tensile steel (any frame generally not listed as CroMo)

Unfortunately those two don't go hand in hand. Bikes under 3 generally don't last for a long time. Many 3-400 will and may not need upgrading as he and his trick arsenal grows. Usually I'd recommend a Stolen Wrap (20.75" TT) but in this case the DK Six Pack fits the bill with it's 20.5". Unless he grows past 5 9 he may never out grow it. It is a little heavy by today's standards, but only by about 3 pounds and to get lighter cost more moola. It should prove to be very durable and in a first bike that is desirable. G_O_O_D L_U_C_K

YEAH! Kink Whip ftw. Kink is so good even at a low price. It already is running a pivotal post and seat, good rims, small drive train, sealed bb, good bars. Everything is good!

Except the fact that it's not full CroMo :(. Not at all a DK fan, but the 6-Pack looks pretty good at it's price (w/full CroMo). The Transition at a $70 bump is the best value outside of the Roc & Apex which can stand on their own as is for a long while. Since he's only eleven I still say a 20.5 is the way to go for now ;).

yeah 20.5 has the best growing range between 20 and 21 i think.
