I am sorry for any AOL shorthand I have used in my typing. I apologize, also, If I dont spell things right.

i can only do about 10 feet, sometimes 20 (i just started about a week ago, and i've been focusing only on barspins) but i just wrecked earlier today, and my parents took my bike away till this gash i got in my side heals. till then, just firecrackers, tv, pc, and Xbox for me.

I have no idea how long I can. I prefer standing b/c sitting and doing a wheelie is pretty hard.

FROM GUINESSWORLDRECORDS.com:

Longest Bicycle Wheelie Journey
The longest bicycle journey doing a wheelie the whole way was 4,569 km (2,839.6 miles) by Kurt Osburn of Fullerton, California, who traveled from Hollywood, California, to Orlando, Florida, USA, between April 13 and June 25, 1999. "I never knew America was such a big country. You just don't realize how far it is coast-to-coast," he said after his wondrous one-wheeled epic.

I would expect that he would go many miles every day on one wheel before taking a break.

Manuals are a different story as you aren't allowed to pedal. So, that's as long as the hill you are able to find. Probably a couple of miles or something like that.

bmxtrix, you may remember brian scurra had a bike set up to do wheelies way back when. but it was direct drive, I think, so it's kind of like cheating...
he had a really skinny wheel on the front, like a sew-up or something, vector bars/stem combo and a banana seat. I don't know how far he wheelied, I think it was more for doing shows with then setting records.

I most definitely remember that, as well I remember some stuff about the world record belonging to Scura and then to some other guy. It was something like Scura had the world record for worlds longest wheelie, then this guy did it a little further, then Scura did it like a couple of miles...

In response the guy did a wheelie for like 62 miles or something ridiculous like that. It was an asinine distnace and completely leveled the old record the Scura had held. The guy basically said "If you are going to go for a world record, then dedicate yourself to setting the world record and stop screwing around."

Wheelies on 20" bikes don't even compare to wheelies done on bikes built and designed to do wheelies on specifically.

No THEY don't make bikes for wheelies, but people build and setup bikes specifically for wheelies to make the wheelies easier to do and more comfortable to ride on.

They use stock equipment, but put on specific equipment to make wheelies easier and more comfortable. A nice big comfortable seat that is leaned way forward. It sucks to sit on when you ride normally, but in a wheelie, it's at the perfect angle.

Bars that are comfortable, seat at the right height, longer cranks, a better gear ratio... sometimes they use fixed gearing. There is a lot you can do with a bike to make it better to wheelie on.

But we ride freestyle, so we manual. Not wheelie.

Dont pull up so high, just keep it where the back tire is level and where you can hold your weight.
