people will always have their opinions on bikes......I wouldnt judge your new bike by what other people have to say but by what you think after riding it for a while.....

Haros tend to be pretty well thought out bicycles. They are geared toward the high end mass market. This means that they are made strong enough to be sold with warranties, yet are built with enough quality to be on bike shop floors. Unlike Mongoose, and all the Pacific branded companies, Haro still has a ton of rider input on all of their products and is on the leading edge of putting out product that is in line with the price you end up paying.

The down side to all of this is that some of their stuff is a little heavy as it is made for strength typically over weight. Also, you will find that because of their taiwanese production, some of them are not as well built as others could be.

But, I still recommend Haros as one of the best complete bicycles you can buy for the money...

BUT: While you get a great deal on the price of a single bike, you get much higher quality by building a bike up from parts than you ever will from a Haro complete. So, you may want better forks, some better wheels, or better tires. Maybe the seat sucks, or the cranks. If you buy the 'cheaper' Haros (sub $400.00) then you are on a bike that really is 'affordable' instead of 'quality'. It's a great bike for the cash, but it lacks a lot of the things that make a bike truly high end.

The NUMBER ONE PROBLEM WITH HAROS: Beginning riders don't have a clue about bike maintenance, and when things come loose, they ride the bike with loose parts and then things break. If you keep your bike dialed, and bike usually need at least a WEEKLY check over for maintenance, then your Haro should last you a long time and you will be very happy with it.
