I want to get into BMX bikes, i've been into bikes all my life, but never BMX bikes
are there any tips anyone can give me. |
What style of riding do you want to get into? I am really interested in dirt/trails. Street is cool too.
|
I would like to get into Street, but I saw some videos of dirt and it looked crunk.
|
Dirt is fun. Street is cool too if you live in town.
My advice, Buy a complete and go from there. Full cromo is best. Hiten steel tends to be pretty ****ty, especially if you are on the heavier side. Your local CL probly has some good deals. |
Danscomp for completes/parts. Probably cheaper than any LBS too.

you live in Austin? just go by Empire some time. it's one of the best-known bmx mail order shops in the world, in addition to being a cultural hub for BMX. www.empirebmx.com
Austin is an awesome bmx city. I miss it. |
Empire would be an amazing place to go
|
alrighty thanks, so i'm thinking that the Average BMX bike costs about 400 dollars?
Is that good for a beginner to get? |
you can get a pretty decent bike for $400. Anything less than $400 is probably going to compromise quality so that you'll have to upgrade parts in a short time. I have been getting into mountain bikes for the last few years and BMX is a LOT cheaper than other kinds of cycling.
also check Austin Craigslist for a decent custom complete bike. BMX is huge in Austin and some people might sell their $1200 custom complete for $400. |
