Identifying rear hub
I have a Mirraco EDIT bike. The rear hub locked up and blew out the bearings on the drive side. The hub has nothing on it to identify what brand it is so I can purchase the needed parts. The Mirraco web site shows the rear hub is alloy cassette 1-pc. driver rear hub. I need new bearings and the caps that threads on the axle and rides on the bearings. Here's some pictures of the hub. Thanks for any help.

New hub. Or just go to your LBS and see if they have the parts floating around somewhere sell you.

You're going to need to get a new hub/wheel.

Just replacing the hub would be fine...no need to replace the entire wheel when the problem lies just in the hub.

And it would be cheapest to just get some grease, and repack that hub and keep riding it. I know I didn't say it before, but it just sorta sprang to mind (meaning I just did this yesterday for my fixed gear). So he should really do that instead. Good learning experience.

Possibly but if it was the driver that failed that caused the hub to blow, it would do it again, if not it will be fine. Regardless, it will be a good learning experience.

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up buying a new wheel with a quantom hub with sealed bearings. If they go bad I can order new ones from where I work.

I bet if you greased it back up and put it back together it would've worked.

Not after you and I bumped it. Nice way to greet a newbie.
Thanks for your input, Rustbucket, it can be used for others who use the search engine. |
