Thinking of riding BMX again.

I recently rode a Free Agent and It made me want to buy a name-brand BMX. but it needs to fit me. I know some of this is a hard thing to find for tall guys like me. I understand a top-tube needs to have a good length, and all that is personal preference. Can you guys link me to nice 24" bikes chromoly preferable since i do go jumping my bikes and my aluminum mtb completely got bent up in the back tire an it cant operate any more.

POINT IS: the price point is $350 United State Dollars so link me to the bike on there manufactures website. I prefer Haro, Diamondback, Freeagent(there bike is out of my Price Point)

Sprocket: 25T-36T
Tire Size: 24"
there is all i need

I did find the Haro ZX24 and the Diamondback Session Pro 24 and those are all i could find just make sure its sturdy for a 6ft4 guy like me.

If it has the right size tt, and you like it, it should be just fine. How much chromoly are you really going to get for only $350 though?

LAriverRat 06-02-12 08:19 AM

Do it, just do it.

iamtim 06-09-12 09:01 AM

DO IT. I got back into BMX (both racing and street) last year and it was the best decision I've ever made.

For $350 you're not going to get a full chromoly F/F bike, unless you pick an older model up off of craigslist or something. If you can up your budget just a wee bit to around $425 you can get the Mirraco 20Forty which is a great bike and has a full chromoly frame and fork with a lifetime warranty. I ride a 20Forty. Haro, Diamondback, Felt, and Free Agent all have 24s at around the same price point as the Mirraco, but I think some of them are only partially chromoly. Above that is the Stolen Saint and Mongoose Thrive, and above those is the Sunday Model C.

Check out this thread I put together over on Vital BMX:

Go for it. I'm an old guy and decided to get back into it. I scanned craigslist and eBay local for bikes. There were a few good finds here and there. I ended up getting a Gary Fisher Air Bob in great shape. Its 36 lbs, full chromoly, and was only $140, to boot! And the best part is, I already gashed my shin trying to remember how to bunny hop.

Its like you didn't even read the first half of my post. Jesus. If you want to ask for advice and actually get something useful and helpful, don't be a dick, and take something like that with a grain of salt. I just threw that last bit in there for your sake, and the longevity of your bike. Just trying to be helpful, but apparently thats that what you're looking for. From now on, I'll just be the biggest dick possible and see how it turns out.

What model Mirraco? Just like any other company, they make good stuff and cheap/bad stuff. And that Fit isn't really the greatest. Also, punctuation would have made that post a million times easier to read, and I'm pretty sure that use of correct spelling/grammar/punctuation is one of the forum rules. But I'm not 100% on that.

You're new, and instead of going through the hassle of getting a mod in on this, for the sake of everyone trying to read what you post, how about a little punctuation? Sure, it takes an extra few seconds per paragraph to add in the periods, commas, and capital letters where they belong, but it makes it a thousand times easier to read so that we can be sure to get you the best/proper advice as quickly as possible.

What kind of phone? And its cool, just sort of making sure we're all on the same page. Just makes things go a lot smoother around here.

It is good to come back to ride BMX again. You can feel comfortable while riding a BMX bike.
