A freestyle bike is any bmx bike that is meant for tricks (of any kind) that is not a race bike. We used to differentiate freestyle bikes from race bikes this way because race bikes were more common back in the day.
These days freestyle bikes are way more common than race bikes and there are many types of freestyle bike, so saying you prefer freestyle bikes is kind of worthless.
Ride whichever bike suits your height and riding style.

I prefer more of a trail geometry over street or park, but I mainly ride jumps and pump tracks. I also have a pro XL race bike.
