Remember the 40mph BMX?
I'm just curious if anyone remembers BMX in the late 1980's? It had a 64T chainring and plastic in the front of the bike. I remember seeing a pic in mags and it was in white. I believe it was a GT.

These were F1s. Several companies made them. The one with the faring was the Hutch Superbike. The whole idea was dumb and it died within a year.

Well that bike looks stupid as hell riding BMX on old school downhill tracks we regularly pushed 40+ back in the 80's often with out any safety equipment or measuresues.

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=343148 What I recall of it, and certainly could be wrong or confusing the memory with something else, was that the bike was based off a racing series where 20" geared "aero" bikes were raced. I recall them using spaces like warehouse floors with smooth concrete to set up short go cart like tracks. As to the other part I also don't think it was around long, mostly because it was totally pointless. |

My LBS had a GT that I test-rode... I liked the concept but I was 20+ years old at the time (~6-ft tall) and it was a very cramped & aggressive ride so I didn't buy one. The frame was about the same size as a normal BMX frame. There's not a lot of info online about it I've ever found. There is a small bit in the entry for Tinker Juarez about F1 racing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinker_...ous_and_Trivia |
