Hey, does Macneil make good frames? Some of them seem like good ones to me, and I've been checking out bmx-test.com (it's this site that people submit reviews for bmx products) and they have some good reviews for the Macneil Miron frame. I've also checked it out at danscomp.com, and it sounds like it has some good features. I know it's taiwesian made, (sorry if I miss-spelled it) but I'm sure there are a lot of frames out there that are still good quality even if they aren't made in the USA. So, anyway, do they make some good frames? Thanks!

PS: The reason I'm eager to know is that there is a Macneil Miron frame for new that is fifty or so dollars cheaper than the ones at dans on ebay right now, so I'm just curious if that would be a good choice to buy it or not. I'd also really appreciate it if I could get some quick and CLEAR anwsers so the auction doesn't time out. Thanks very much!

Edit: I'm sorry, the frame on ebay is actually a remarkable 150 and fifty dollars cheaper than the ones at dans!! And it is brand new from a good seller!!! I sure hope that it is a good frame, 'cause I haven't seen any frame bargens like that on ebay ever.

And queensrider, what exactly do you mean by 'get that ****'? I'm not quite sure what you mean by that.

If you're getting a good deal on it, go for it. If you're paying full price, though, save your cash and get something made in the US.

Ok. Well it is going to be around a 180$ savings after shipping, so I thought it would be a good idea just because of the bargain alone, not to mention that the Miron frame is much better than my hi-tensil steel frame. But I can't seem to find info on the warranty. I've checked out Macneil's website and all they say in their F.A.Q.'s is that they have a 90-day warranty on their stuff, but that (I hope) is only for the craftsmenship garuntee. I wanted to know what the long run warranty was and I can't seem to find it. I did email them, but I don't think they'll reply before the auction ends.
Does anyone here know much about Macneil? I just wanted to know if they make some good quality stuff. Does anyone know if they do? Thanks a lot!

Oh, btw, does anyone have any other suggestions for a frame that may be better than the Miron frame BUT is at the same price (290$)? Thanks!

flyboy, why spend so much on a frame?

your still at the early stages of learning to ride, correct? just about any frame will work fine for you. and once you get better, you will have a better understanding of what you want in a frame.

I would suggest getting one of the deals from Dans comp such as the Haro Mirra frames that are selling for $119.00. you can use the money you save to buy some other nice parts.

Well, that is a good suggestion pnj, but I won't really be spending that much on it. If I even decide to get it I'm getting one off of ebay that is currently selling for 90$ in brand new condition. That is a 200$ discount from the ones in dans for the same new condition. That is the only reason I was interested in the Macneil Miron frame and that is the only reason I started this thread.

I emailed Macneil about their warranty information on their Miron frames and this is what they said (I copied and pasted it exactly from what they said):

"We sell a lot of frames and we don’t really get any back. Don’t sweat the warranty stuff. We’re pretty flexible about that stuff. It was our fault we’ll take care of you.

The warranty is 90 days against MFG and material defects.
Yes the frame is a great street frame that has held up well. I think that we have only received 4 back and we’ve built a lot of them.
P.S. We covered three of those for replacement. One was so beat to hell and smashed in that we couldn’t. Okay?"

Darc.

I think it sounds like a winner to me. Especially if I can get it at that price.

Macneil seem to be a pretty cool company, just check that frames not a Mk1 Miron, that beast was 8lbs.

i checked with my importer/supplier. he says they stopped handling Macneil frames cuz many people prefer USA mades, and some other guys say they have a lot of flex, and they aren't as good quality as say, S&M. they have the view that its ok if its a bargain but if it ain't, leave well enough alone. hope this helps. let us know what you decide.

I've already decided and built it, it's awesome. Coming from a frame that was all steel instead of cromo it's all very cool. It feels very solid, and it's geometry feels great. I can feel a big difference over my old frame, and it is a good difference too. It almost balances itself out in the air. I love it!
