I just got home right now from a 1:00 am to 3:30 am street session. i was trying to land a trick on a ledge that was about 5 inches wide and 15 feet long, with a 4 foot drop at the end. i was doing a feeble ( i have 2 pegs, on my right) to hop over pedal feeble and drop to the ground. i don't pedal grind on my left as much as i do on my right. when i hopped over to the pedal feeble, i must have hit my left pedal too hard, because it started shaking alot. i would usually get new pedals, but i'm short on cash. is there a way to switch bearings on unsealed pedals? would it stop the shaking? i feel like an idiot. i never took a pedal apart before

Yes, you can repack pedal bearings just like hub bearings.

i think that you can buy pedal bearings or you might just need to tighten and re-grease your pedal.....what happened exactly to the pedal...???

I don't think you need to feel like an idiot, I'm sure a lot of people haven't taken apart a pedal completely because most of the time there isn't a need to do it. I'm sure that wherever you got the pedals from that you could call them and ask for whatever the replacement part(s) you need and they'd get em' for you.

If you run unsealed bearings you should pack them with grease often.
You inspect the balls as well, replacement balls cost little.

I don't want to talk yoou into something you can't do...

You need to get bearing grease, and you'll have to take a ball to the lbs to get sized and new ones.

Catch the balls on a cloth and count how many per side.
The hard thing is tightening the races back up.

O.k..you have the new balls and grease.

Wipe the races clean, line the race with lotsa grease. Insert the spindle and put the balls in the side that threads onto the crank first (just pull the axle\race up the shaft enough to slip the amount of balls in.)

Now HOLDING THE SPINDLE AGAINST THE RACE YOU FILLED....carefully turn the pedal over.
Fill the outer race with grease and balls. Screw down the second side of the race not tight -just to keep the balls from coming out.

Now for the tricky part, start tightening the second nut\race onto the spindle and spin the pedals, you want no play in the body\ shaft..but not to push the bearings down and grind.

It's a feely thing, once you get it good, I back the race off a 1/4 of a turn and put the lock washer -then the nut on, the nut should be tight, but don't wail on it -thats why i say back the race off 1/4 turn as the nut when tightened will push the race in slightly.

You may need to tighten and play with it several times until you get the feel of it.

You need a pedal wrench or narrow cresent.
Small pliers, and a socket set...or that's what I use anyway.

just wondering....i am weight conscious on my bike....doesnt Profile make Ti spindles for their pedals********** does anyone know if they make them for PRIMO Mg tenderizers...???

primo makes mag pedals. i don't know about ti pedal spindles though.I'm just gonna buy new pedals
